Kings Dominion selling Hypersonic XLC

It's not like CF to sell rides at parks. Maybe Kinzel needs the money to finish Maverick or repaint Firehawk for KI.

My bad!

I just cant help thinking what CF is going to do to a park like KD. I mean it has a good number of visits every year, but yet, compare the quality to BGE and it is lacking.

I no CF are all about rides - which is not a bad thing. And I love that the re-opened FoF. But will the concentrate on the water park more than the hard park - as I fear.

I still know a few people that work there, and they say the place is buzzing at the moment, with rumours a-pleanty. I think the bottom line is, that the park needs a new major coaster - otherwise people will start choosing BGE over it!

Well, what type and ize of coaster would be a good fit? i've never been to KD, but I'm guessing because of Kinzel's love of those guys, we'll probably see one there. Might be something simlar to Maverick.

They already have started choosing BGE over PKD.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Give CF a year or two. Look what they did with Geauga Lake. It's now a good compliment to CP instead of the abomination SF made it. Then again, XFlight was (and is /w being reincarnated as Firehawk) a cool coaster)

I hope to God you aren't serious.

Hypersonic was a piece of crap. No one will miss it.

Speak for yourself. I liked it, at least the first time I was there. Sure, it's a bit rough turning corners these days but the launch remains fantastic.

I'll miss it when it's gone....though Dodonpa was /is better. Twelves weeks from tomorrow I'll be at Fuji-Q again and I'm already counting down the days...

I like Hypersonic. Apparently the ride will run until it is sold. I can see it moving on, it's the most "portable" looking ride in the park and probably has lost its novelty to many of the guests. Maybe they'll put a station for a new hyper where Hypersonic was. *** Edited 3/8/2007 8:58:25 PM UTC by Willh51***
^ I wish you were right.

coastin' since 1985

From what I understand the park still plans to operate the ride for the 2007 season if they can't find a buyer real soon. While they're at it they can bulldoze Hurler as well.

I can't say that I'm sad to see it go & certainly won't miss it when it's finally gone, they can easily put something better in it's place....something preferably with better capacity as well as better reliability.

As for getting a new coaster didn't they just add IJ:TC last season? After looking closely at last year's map paying close attention to the water park I can see why they're making new additions to it this season...the waterpark definitely needs the additions that it's recieving in 2007 that's for sure.

A new coaster would be a fine addition though for the 08/09 season though depending on what the park plans to do with HS:XLC's footprint once it's gone.

The coaster's a piece of junk. It's not like a good ride is being sold.
Maybe it'll be like Deamon Drop and stivk around for a few years. Maybe a smaller park would like XLC for a new addition.

Uhhh... so this is ridiculously old news.

It was my first major launched coaster back when I was a whimp. Later on it hurt, but it holds some sentimental value for me.

I wonder if the buyer can modify it back to the full vertical drop...

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

^I dont see why not. They could contact the designer and have somthing wiped up, and built. Even made longer for a more enjoyable ride.

The drop should be longer (not start to pull out just as it goes vertical) and there should be more track. Maybe then, the pain of the ride would be somewhat worth it.
They're selling it? I thought it was going to MiA. ;)

In all honesty, this ride was a major let down. It bounces all over the place and down right hurts in a couple of spots. I got my credit -- moving on.
