Sigh. OK, so...Apollo's Chariot, Millenium Force, Superman at SFA...don't they all do the same thing?I guess it doesn't matter. I was just curious as to what you meant. To each, their own.
We are going back there tomorrow for the ACE fall event there and plan to ride I305 again, trims and all. Hmm, maybe I'll pay attention and notice them.

No. None of those coasters go back and forth.
Maybe this will explain it better.
Again, all you see is the drop and the big hill. Other than that it's just going back and forth. It's doesn't go up and down in any meaningful way, it doesn't loop, it doesn't flip, spin, bend, fold or spindle. There's not even anything to see unless you're right next to it because it just goes back and forth.
If you like to go fast and then turn around and go fast in the other direction, back and forth - then this is the coaster for you.
I found that I don't like to go fast and then turn and go fast in the other direction a couple of times.

Ah...gotcha. Sorry, I just wasn't getting it. You must not appreciate NASCAR as that is what it was trying to emulate. The sharp 'back and forth' as you put is supposed to give the rider the sensation of tracks like Talledega and Daytona.
I guess I am an unsophisticated rollercoaster enthusiast. I love Intimidator as much as I love Apollo's Chariot and Volcano (which is my fave.) I like most types, including wild mice and even the Hypersonic. I'm not a wooden coaster fan as, with age, they tend to hurt. About the only style I don't care much for, and, again, it hurt, was the lay down type like Batwing at SFA.
ANYWAY, I follow you now. Sorry, I was just not getting it.

Visited the park today and, of course, rode I305. I didn't notice the trims on the first drop, but I can't say that I have in the past since I don't look for that. At any rate, I love the speed and the 'back and forth' that Sir Gonch speaks of...call me boring, but I like it.
Also rode Volcano, first ride of the day and boy was it slow. We barely made it out of the mountain. That was a bit disconcerting, to say the least. However, I did notice that with each successive train, it got faster and faster. I'm told that this is normal. It was a bit chilly, mid - 50's, when we first rode so I suspect temperature plays a part here.
Apparently lots of track work has taken place, over the year, on Rebel Yell and that is why only one side has been running instead of both sides. Lots of care is being given by the mothership in keeping RY up and running.
I have to say, Kings Dominion has improved tremendously since Cedar Fair assumed ownership. Lots of new paint, re-paving and general upkeep has taken place and it no longer feels dirty. It's quite a nice place to visit now.

I am glad that you enjoyed KD. I hope that you will coming back to KD.
I think that Kings Dominion is way better that SFA in Maryland. Because they sure know how to run a park compare to SFA. I reason that I said that is. My buddies and I was not too pleased with SFA. One time my buddy and I where waiting in the line to ride Two-Face The Flip Side before they took it down. We where at the airgate and they let whole bunch of flash pass riders board. And didn't open the airgates to let the rest of us ride. So we wen to Guest Relation to complane. Than another time my buddy and I where waiting for the front seat and they let a whole bunch of flash pass riders board. After that I told my buddy that was my very last time going to SFA.
