Kings Dominion 2004-2005

I havent been to pkd yet but, i'm hearin some good things like the new looks of the seats on Hypersonic. They're rippin out the old water slides behind where diamond falls stood. Now a rollercoaster seems even more likely!!! I've read a million rumors goin atround on what its gunna be but really, nobody has a clue, we'll have to wait and see!! If you haven't seen here are some pics of the slide removal and Hypersonic Seats;)

*** havent been yet this season
I'm going later this year, probably in july.

I was watching the news this evening & was shocked to hear that over the weekend there was a shooting at the park....apparently a fight had broken out shortly after a BET concert had ended & a Georgia university student was fatally shot in the head.

This makes me really wonder if parks should conduct vehicle searches prior to entering the parking lot,if trouble makers know they can't get weapons past the main gate due to increased security then they're just going to end up carrying weapons in their vehicles & assualting patrons in the parking lot instead so something really needs to be done to prevent another tragedy such as this from happening again in the future.

I just got back from PKD and the seats for XLC are the bulkiest things I've ever sat in. The whole train shakes from side to side viciously.

I went to PKD as a kid and loved it, but things have clearly changed... sad really cause Volcano is the lick. Everything else is kinda blah.

Last I heard was that Hypersonic hasn't even opened this season yet, but if they I have i gotta get down there
You can't search cars and hope to prevent something like that. No place is ever going to be 100% safe, something that very few people realize or are willing to realize. Searching cars will do nothing more than cause delays getting into the parking lot which will piss off a lot more patrons than find weapons in cars which are probably on someone's person anyway. You're not going to stop it unless you try and prevent the situations from happening in the first place, and that just means more police around so that someone knows if they DO do something, they'll be seen and caught. PKD does a great job of this.

Speaking of seats at PKD, one of the best things I noticed on opening day was that all the wooden coasters had retractable seat belts in cartridges on the outsides of the cars, and all the padding was new. I thought that was a great idea, not only because the ops don't have to bother buckling empty seats, but all the *ahem* "bulky" people can now stop their b***hing about the belts being too short.

The last two years they have had problems with this event at PKD. Last year someone was killed in the parking lot of the park. This year they had a few problems but the probles were in clubs on the streets of Richmond. As far as I have heard nothing happened at the park or in the parking lot. But I agree they need to condsider doing something different.

PKD is my home park they have great coasters, but they still can make a million changes to make things better. I would love to see some theme in the park for one thing. I have been going to the park for about 20 years and I love it.

I was there on April 3. The weather was lousy, but the park was nice. Hypersonic and everything else I noticed were running. I understand that it was not running on opening weekend.

I hadn't ridden Hypersonic since just after it opened. The seats are rather surrounding. The interesting change in the ride, at least in the last row where I rode, was a sort of double air time event at the top of the hill. You got air as the train started over, positive G's can in as you got to the top, then air time again as you started back down.
