Kingda Ka is experiencing extended downtime....again

TTD is kinda one of those "been there/done that" rides for me. If I get to the park and it's busy or down it's no big deal. But when I make myself do it, I'm always REALLY glad I got on it. Maybe I forget how thrilling and scary it really is till I get there, I don't know. The folks in NJ might feel the same way- if it was open they'd be lining up for sure, but if it's not at least there's plenty to do otherwise.

I'm glad TTD ironed out most of it's problems since the beginning and that numbers have a chance to be where they belong. I'd say in the last 2 or 3 seasons I haven't noticed a lot of downtime- it's always fairly reliable when I'm there.

The way rides are so complexly engineered these days I'm surprised they run at all, really. I know I couldn't make one go!

Is complexly a word?

^^And on that note...TTD's average line this season seems to be going the way Millennium's finally started to in 07...consistently shorter and way under an hour!

Even Maverick isn't close to 2 hours anymore!

Us peeps closer to Jersey do indeed feel the same way. Ka is not a priority for me when I go to Great Adventure, and I liked TTD WAAAAY better, but I always feel so awesome after I ride Ka (in terms of adrenaline and pride for my bravery....not in terms of head pain because that's usually nearly day/night-ending unless I sit in the front).

TTD last year was, from what I saw, fairly reliable, especially when compared to Ka's downtime. TTD ran the entire first day I was there and most of the second day with a few 5-10 minute issues here and there.

Complexly a word? Most likely NOT. LOL I like it though. :)

I've ridden both around the same time, and I can say the TTD is more reliable. Just is. That little extra speed causing problems? Perhaps.

It's not going anywhere, just showing that giant green tower in the ads is enough to bring in tourists to the area and remind locals, even if El Toro is the best coaster there...
