Kingda Ka is all over the news?!?

RU4reel?? I would have said the same thing about Cedar Point if the opposite was said. Replace Nitro, Medusa, Superman, and The Chiller with Millennium Force, Magnum, Raptor, and Wicked Twister. They're equally incredible coaster parks.

+Danny, nice shot at PKI btw :)

Brett sed: But since you missed that one, here it is again; I was wrong, I underestimated the proximity to New York and the press it'd get.

Following suit, I'd like to remind everyone I was wrong about Hydra's pre-lift inversion; about SFMM adding 3 coasters in 2001; how Waterville USA's Cannonball was damanged; and that Herhseypark would not be adding an Intamin rocket coaster in 2004.

mOOSH ;)

It was a news blurb on the radio this morning up here in MN.
Here in Chicago they just played had a segment about the coaster on NBC 5 news.

And my grandfather even asked me if I had heard about it today, so it seems everyone knows or has heard about it.

Hmmm...they always say that "Imitation is the most sincere method of flattery." I am sorry, what is the point of cloning another attraction. Isn't Six Flags already the king of cloning rides...within its own chain? I understand that there is another hill at the bottom of this ride...but how "good" will it feel when you are slammed up into the shoulder restraits as you race over the rise? One could only assume that there is a braking device involved before it hits the rise?! Anyway...I still hope that the park and Intamin are able to run the attraction successfully (sp?).

I am guessing that with all the money and the collection of coasters at this park, this is one of the SF parks that actually stand out and are making money. Anyone think that SF dumped so many other parks overseas just for an investment of this magnatude?

Oh yea, their dumping of those parks had nothing to do with the fact that they're in debt up their asses and that they weren't as profitable as the stateside parks. They sold them just to clone a Cedar Point ride. Mmmm Hmmm - makes sense to me.
There aren't any brakes before the "tiger hill". It looks like it will be drawn out enough to where you're not "slamming up" and it will be more floater air like the hills on MF.

Well, now that it has hit CNN.com... it is officially big news! (ok, not OFFICIALLY officially, but you know).

Did Six Flags happen to mention how much this whole thing is going to cost, including the whole re-theming & such?

I know that Cedar Point flaunted how much it was going to cost from the get go... 20+ million, but I really haven't seen any figures from Great Adventure as of yet.

I wonder how many out-of-state LOCAL newspapers had the article about this coaster? I can say the Charlotte Observer (NC) had an article about it Wed.
I got the Patriot News the local Harrisburg paper, and the only thing that I have seen an article for is the new ride at Hersheypark. ;)

Kingda Ka has been all over the news, and I think Six Flags deserves it. After all it is going to be the new record breaker. I also like the idea of the new themed area. I am sure that Great Adventure will have a good season next year. I know I'll be there. I am also happy to see the east coast six flags getting the record breaker.

My parents in Napa, CA said they saw it on their local news.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I have yet to see/hear ANYTHING about this ride other than on the web forums or thru linked articles...

I guess there's bigger news in FL right now...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

My parents both so it on T.V. I got home from school on Wednesday immediately went to Coasterbuzz. while my dad told me the numbers just as I read them here!

I can't find any local newspapers or channels talking about it around Boston. I guess my state does not want to adverstise I ride that was designed by Intamin like Superman. ( you never know)

-Eric: Major Parks: SFNE(homepark), SFA,SFGADV,CP,BGE,BGA,Kennywood, and Sea World: Track record 65 different coasters ridden #1 is Millennium Force #2 is El Toro and than there are all the others

One word: Diversion

I'm not saying that it isn't great news. I find it very exciting, but it sure does take some negative publicity away from SF...this AND Mr. Six!
