Kill YOU with kindness!

Has anyone noticed the HUGE increase in customer service at the corporate parks this year? Cedar Fair and Six Flags try to kill you with kindness at the front gates. Cedar Fair has accomplished this task for years, but I really noticed it on my Six Flags trips this year. Overly friendly......Hell, I'm waiting for a hug! The smaller parks, it's a given (K-Wood, Knoebel's, etc) but, the corps are really getting into it.....

Has anyone else noticed this?

The only time I noticed this was on the season pass pre-processing day at SFGAm when I was greeted very kindly. However, on Mother's Day it was business as usual.

On the pre-processing day the new hires were being trained so I expect they were just practicing and quickly forgot what they learned.

I want mention that the staff at WoF was exceptional. They went out of their way by opening the office after closing so we could get our season passes processed. Also, the other park staff was very friendly and helpful.

The staff this year at Dorney Park has been exceptional. Easily the most friendly park employees I've ever seen. We've been there 5 times so far this year and every visit is the same - very friendly and helpful.

On Mother's Day employees were stopping my wife and wishing her a happy mother's day!

My trip to Six Flags St. Louis featured some really awesome customer service. For the most part all of the employees were extra friendly and willing to help out in any way they could. There were a few exceptions but I think those exceptions can be found at any park.

Theme parks arent stupid. They know that they have been getting knocked for the past few years more an more for poor customer service and they see what small parks like Kennywood or Holiday World have done when they lay on the charm.

I really am excited to see these changes and I hope they continue into the future.

I have had great service at both Cp and SFWoA this year. I may even venture to call it excellent...

I fool so feelish....

*Most* employees at Kings Island were very friendly a couple weeks ago. They didn't always know what they were doing but they were friendly ;)

IMHO customer service gose beyond the employees being friendly, I can go to SFWOA any day of the week and they are nice but I am extremely dissapointed waiting twice as long for rides due to one train operation when two or three are possible.

Chuck, who dose apreciate a smiling and helpful staff :)

Lesourdsville Lake, The great American amusement park opens the season June 6th Thurs-Sun every week. Park phone is (513)539-2193

I noticed this also. Ride ops being overly enthusiastic and employees saying "please don't sit on the rail" instead of "get down from there". It is really nice, lets just hope it continues through the season.

But we all have to remember it's the begining of the season too....
Well, I can't say SFGAm's employees have been any better. There is one total jerk on Viper who is honestly the worst employee I have ever seen. I went on Viper twice, he stapled me as low as the thing goes, twice, and then proceeded to laugh at me with fellow ride ops. That guy should get fired. The rest of the employees have just been average. PKI's employees were very good. They were nice.
SFGA2001-Remember, it may seem that he(the ride op) is incharge, but he isn't. If you are impolite to him, nothing will happen. If he is impolite to you, he can get fired. Just tell him to knock it off or you will report him. The guest always has authority in that type of situation. The park doesn't want pissed off guests.

The staff also seems a little better this year at SFOG, especially the GASM crew (MisterX/Chris the Coaster Freak) Great Job!!! The S:UF crew is also working its way up to full 3-train capacity with minimum stacking (Those restraints get pretty bad after 5 mins on the brake run) very quickly.

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

I have noticed this at SFMM too as they search me with the metal detector as always. They actually talk to you instead of just "turn around." It makes you feel more at home as they pat you down around your extremities ;)

BTW, I find it very odd that there is never one day that I go to SFMM without getting patted down. I go with my cousins or friends, same thing. Maybe it's a pigmentation issue?

Is it a dream or a memory? It's both, it's X

The metal detector always goes off on me at SFEG, it always turns out to be my cell phone. I think security at parks has obviously had a hugh increase since 9-11 which is good. Anything to insure safety.

Uhhh......yes, confusion sets in. Pigmentation, why? Are you a redhead? LOL! Talk about discrimination, if that were the case. I feel ya. My coaster riding friend may have the same pigmentation, but we never get "patted" at SFWoA. Very interesting, though.

There was a story on CNN last night that talked about the summer job market for High Scool and College students. Essentially, it said that there are more people to choose from, so employers can choose the best. The story talked about SFGAm and that they hired fewer HS age employees because there were more college age people who had more experience. That might be a big reason for the increase - better workers overall.

It might also be because parks like Six Flags and Cedar Fair know that fewer people will be willing to travel great distances for vacation this year. Instead they'll go to a park nearby. If they make a good impression, maybe they'll come back many times instead of going to Florida or California...

Working at kennywood and all, alot of the workers are high school students. Whether you are in high school or in college really doesn't make the niceness of the employees an issue. Kennywood doesn't really say you have to be nice, they tell us to try to exceed the guests expectations, but I'd venture to say that people around the pittsburgh area are mostly real nice people. Might not seem like the smartest but pittsburgers are nice.

Let's just say there is no such thing as a small order of fries at the Patch.

Thanks for the compliment astrosgp, we try harder!

I think the number 1 demoralizer of park employees are stupid/rude guests.
