KIExtreme post photos of Firehawk test flights

With less than two weeks left before opening, Kings Island's Firehawk has begun full-circuit testing with both trains on the track and one train cycling continuously. Also, the on-ride photo booth has been completed and is being wired, and the queue is essentially finished.

I love the way the entrance area is at a higher elevation and you're level with the last turn into the station. I also dig the stock Cedar Fair fencing. ;)

Jeff,

I also like how they did some grading this time, as opposed to just sticking the ride in a parking lot.

What I am curious about, and maybe someone that was there for testing can tell me, is if the anti-rollbacks are as loud at KI as they were at GL. When I worked at the Lake, it was fairly easy to tell when X-Flight had a train on the lift! If they replaced them for something quieter, it would really be nice.

You definatly have a very different perspective of the ride than with X-Flight. I think it will be a much better fit at Kings Island than it ever was at Geauga Lake.

I went there to watch some Firehawk testing on Saturday evening. The lift hill wasn't nearly as loud as it was at Geauga, but it did kind of sound unhealthy. It was more like a chain being drug against the ground rather than the typical lift hill noise. Then again, it's still in a testing phase and adjustments can and will be made.

They're X-Flight's trains, refurbished. There are two.

Yea, I also like how the entrance is basically at level with the station, and you don't have to walk under or around the ride to get to the station.

So, are they only going to be running 2 trains? And if so, are they going to be using the duel-loading station?

I wish SFA would consistently run theirs with 2 trains and stations.

That will be one really long line if they are only going to run 2 trains. Whats the point of both sides of the station if they are only going to have 2 trains? I thought that I read somewhere, that they are buying new train(s) for the ride.

Well the anti rollbacks weren't very loud like they were at GL and I can see that the ride has 2 trains because its the former X-Flight. I wonder if the ride has issues during its test runs. thats what I want to know.

I'm really impressed with the color scheme they used on that. It looks way better than it did as X-Flight.

Looks awesome, and I'm glad they are keeping up with the basic "theme" of that area, it looks very nice.

They still don't have my ride sign up. Darn. I've been wondering what it will look like after assembled.
