O.K. What do you get when you combine the following?
1. Perfect weather day (65 degrees and sunny).
2. Only amusement park(Kiddieland) open in the Chicago area.
3. Chicagoans just itching to do outdoor activities.
4. Coupons from Dunkin Donuts offering $10.40 off an all you can ride wristband which are $13.00 full price(Awesome deal).
The answer? "A VERY CROWDED PARK"!!!
I couldnt believe it. This is the most crowded I have ever seen this place even during the heart of summer. It was great just being able to enter an amusement park. It sort of tells you that winter is officially done.
The folks that run this park I dont think were expecting this many people because they just didnt seem prepared for it. This isnt the type of park that packs them in but since SFGAm isnt open yet, I am sure alot of families just wanted to enjoy the day with their kids and thats exactly what I did with my daughter.
Nothing new at the park but all the classics are still in place and running great. Tilt-A-Whirl, Scrambler, Bumper Cars, Log Flume, Antique cars, Galleon Ship, a bunch of kiddie rides, and last but not least, The Littler Dipper 1950 PTC junior woodie. The arcade still has the old school games like Donkey Kong, Joust, Dig Dug, Pacman, etc.
Lately I have been really practicing with Skee-Ball so I was doing quite a bit of that in the arcade (Dan would be proud) :).
Well, not much else to say except that if you have young children and dont want to break the bank, then I highly suggest this classic, fun park that you can support by taking a little time extra when visiting Six Flags to check out. This is the oldest running amusement park in the Chicago area (Opened in 1929).
