Kiddie Land Steam trains are located at Hesston Steam Museum now.

For anyone with Steam interest - the Steam engines and rolling stock that were once at Kiddie Land in Chicago - are now located at the Hesston Steam Museum in Laporte Indiana.

This may have been mentioned before - but I couldn't find reference to the fate of these little engines.

Technically they are on loan to Hesston from the current owner. They will be doing some rehab to the one that ran at Kiddieland to add brakes which the train did not have originally among possibly some other things according to what we were told by people who volunteer there. For those who like steam trains this place is an absolute must stop.

My understanding is that the guy who owns Gas City, a Chicago-area based gas/convenience mart chain, purchased the trains. Been pushing for info from people I know in that company, but nobody knows "why on earth" he bought them.

I was told by Hesston volunteers that he intended to use them on his pumpkin farm or something like that to transport people out to pick the pumpkins. Apparently the property has some serious hills and valleys that would need to be smoothed out a bit in order to run the train through the property. That is at least what we were told.

Ah! That makes sense! I heard he bought or partnered with one of the big pumpkin farms out here.
