Kiddie Coasters

I never ride kiddie coasters, because I feel like a perv waiting in line by myself with all those kids. Besides, at least at PKI, the lines are insane.

The only kiddie coaster I've ridden since I ceased to be a kid is Runaway Reptar, and that's because I went to the media day, where the kids were few and far between.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

I have no idea how many in the 250+ coasters I've ridden are kid coasters, but it's likely a small number. I don't mind riding them, but will not do the "borrow a kid" so I can ride, unless it's the child of someone I know. For me personally, it just seems sort of strange for a 41 year old asking strangers if he can borrow the kid to get a credit. Again, it's just me, but I'm not all that interested in a credit. I don't even have an accurate count (need to sit down and work on it at some point, just not a real big priority with me). But I know some people are totally into getting all the rides they can, and that's cool.

And while the HSTC is small, I really don't consider it a kiddie coaster. Last year at PPP, Mare kept saying she didn't want to ride, as it looked like a kid's ride. One lap during the night changed that opinion...

Thanks for the smart*** comment SFLAKE :) Chance Toboggans are interesting though. My wife and I had no problem sharing a car on the one at Lakemont. Conneaut was a different story as I could barely fit into the car alone. Perhaps the padding is different.

I know where Den is coming from as I like to wander through kiddielands because they often harbor some old and unique rides. It's hard to take pictures because I feel like a perv getting a picture of somebody else's kid when all I really want is the ride itself. I've gotten lucky lately in finding deserted kiddielands (especially at Conneaut when you can pretty much wander through the park at any hour of the day).

"Borrowing" a kid is akin to saying "Look at me, I'm a pediphile" in my book. I won't do it.

Younger people and females are able to get away with it. I will just wait till I get to CP with freinds who have kids, thats how I got my Taxi Jam credit :)

You rode Taxi Jam at CP, Brent? Man, I don't think I'll *ever* be able to do that....;)

I'll admit to having *borrowed* a few kids in my time....PF wasn't gonna come to me to ride it...but then again, I got a MUCH better ride on PF when Chris and TTM told the op I was *theirs*....:)

Those who complain about "feeling like a pedophile"....I never seem to have that problem, but then again, I'm more immature than the kids I'm borrowing...:). I may have gotten a weird look or two, but I don't think any parent would have let me ride with their kid if we weren't in plain view the whole time....well, except for SFA's Great Chase, where bASS and I were practically begged to take the kids for MUCH longer than the ride cycle.....;)

Never have borrowed children to ride a kiddie ride. Took advantage of their presence in my group once to ride a kiddie coaster, but never borrowed a child from someone. It is a tossup for me whether I will ride the kiddie coasters or not. I absolutely will not ride a dragon wagon and count it as a credit. I consider Dragon Wagons to the be the ultimate in credit whoring.

I will ride any of the Vekoma kiddie coasters like the roller skater models and such if I can ride them. I can say I was quite embarassed to wait in line for 45 minutes to ride Gadget's Go Coaster at Disneyland. I felt totally out of place without a kid to ride. There are occaisions where I will outright skip a kiddie ride because there is just too many other better rides to reride at a park like Cedar Point and Woodstock Express or the kiddie ride at Knott's Berry Farm (I was technically an inch too tall to ride, but I was ready to argue it out ;) )

Just last weekend I passed on the Lil Shaver at Mall of America. It would have been an easy credit but it just looked like too much of a credit whoring experience to me that I passed.

Would MJ:TR be a kiddie coaster or a "regular" coaster. :) I have a feeling it's all downhill from here!

Signature will be closed today. Sorry for the inconveinance.

I have ridden quite a few kiddie coasters and I will ride any coaster that I am allowed too. Probably the best exclusive kiddie coaster credit I have in my list though is Roadrunner Express at SFMW, normally you need to have a kid with you to ride it but when I went on the ECC America Trip last year, the park was very kind enough to close the coaster down for a while just so us members could actually ride it. Its a decent little coaster actually and has a wild last turn(Doesnt look very evil but wait till you ride it)

Usually skp em unless the line is short. Not much of a credit whore myself.

Wandering HB land is usually the start of my PKI trips...I take a quick run on Runaway Reptar, then head out towards TR:TR, ect...

Bob, here's my point....did it look like *fun*? If so, who cares whether or not it *counts* as a credit? Plus, you could get lucky like I did on Silverwood's "kiddie" and give a good solid Mooshing to some deserving Peabody...;)

Some of the most "fun" coasters I have ever ridden were kiddies. Just by looks Knoebel's HSTC doesn't look like much. But we all no better then that.

Pegasus and the other Junior CCI's and all of the Junior PTC's are extremelely fun as well.

I decided to make a few kids rather than borrow 'em. ;)

I skip these rides unless my kids are with me, and then I ride. So, when I'm stopping by a park as a side-trip while on business, I always skip. I'll be at KBF next Monday and don't plan to even consider Timberline, but this winter on the family spring break trip I'll be sure to get on it *and* Gadget's Go Coaster. Often, these "kiddie" rides turn out to be more fun than they look (Big Dipper @ MiA), but having my kids (currently 4 and 2) ride with me makes even the Jr. Gemini fun!

That said, I never skip gas-powered cars or carousels.

I've never borrowed a kid, and I think the only time I would consider it is if the kid belongs to a friend or relative of mine. However, I'm a little confused as to why some of you feel like a pervert if you borrow a kid or wait in line with a few of them. The only reason I wouldn't borrow a stranger's kid is because I don't generally like strangers' kids.

Hey, some of the so-called kiddie rides give much rougher rides than the "big kid's toys". L'il Phantom throws you around a LOT, for instance.

If by "kiddie coasters" one means "rides you MUST have a kid to get on", then I've been on 4 -- PKD's and PKI's Taxi Jam, Dorney's Little Laser, and Kennywood's L'il Phantom. I've been on other rides of that nature that didn't explicitly require a kid, though (several "Circus Clown" coasters in the UK, for instance), so offhand I'm not sure of the actual total.
