Kiddie Coasters

It seems that at certain times it does and at certain times it does not. When we were there (March 2001) we saw adults riding it with out kids when we were passing between ToonLagoon and Jurassic Park. However, by the time we got off the Jurrasic Park river ride and went to get on Pt-Flyers they were not letting adults on with out kids. Not sure if it is a timing thing (when the line is short, perhaps they let them on) or if it is up to the descrition of the person manning the entrance of the queue line.

In an unrelated item to Pt-Flyers and as a follow up to my two other posts above...

Let's define a Kiddie Coaster and a Junior Coaster please.

I always thought a Kiddie Coaster was just that... a coaster for kids only that adults may not even be able to fit into let alone ride (Little Phantom or Little Laser).

I'm just trying to figure out the term Junior(?)

If it's listed on Coasterbuzz and I have rode it, I'll include it in my track record, "kiddie coaster" or not.

The first coaster I ever rode was the Jr. Gemini.  And this summer, I got to take my daughter on her first coaster ride on it. (BTW, she loved it.)

Now this opens up a whole new can of worms...

How are coasters actually defined?

For instance... Kiddie Coasters are included on CoasterBuzz (which I have no problem with), but yet Journey To Atlantis is not. The argument goes that it is more of a water ride than a coaster. However, it has a lift hil that takes you up to the coaster track and it has curves and drops and the length of its coaster track is longer actually than kiddie coasters. In my track record (the one I keep separate from CoasterBuzz) I count it.

What really confuses me is on RCDB (and I know Jeff and CoasterBuzz has no say how they list things there) they list the Haunted Mansion (or Haunted House or what ever) in Rehobeth Beach DE as a coaster (its cars are smiliar to an inverted coaster and it travels on a track using gravity as propulsion), but yet they too do not list JtoA as a coaster.

My question is this... if people consider Kiddies coasters (which I believe they are) and even a haunted house a coaster (which I believe it is not), why isn't JtoA listed as a coaster on at least these two sites?

Here's my thing... I just list the stuff in the database. I don't care what people think. If it's a coaster, add it. If it's not, don't. If Dueling Dragons is two coasters, we have them both, so you can add them both. If Racer at PKI is two coasters (not), you can add it twice. I honestly don't care.

I've never understood why people always want to make this some great academic debate.

Not really trying to make this some "great academic debate" (though it may sound that way).

For personal reference (and not to brag to anyone), I keep track of coasters I have ridden both on and off this site. On CoasterGuzz, I mark every coaster on the list that I have ridden, off site I keep track of all that I have ridden (INCLUDING JtoA and various defunct ones)... thats why I have 40 something on this site, but 64 off site.

But someone has yet to answer my question... define a Jr. coaster. In a recent thread someone mentioned about B&M coasters for kids and they mentioned a Jr.Hyper and said "under 200feet of course". Well, not sure if they were beign serious or not about that one... but if they were, I would not call that a Jr. hyper but rather just a coaster that is under 200'... that is not Jr. anything. Again, just wondering about a good definition of this term.

I do..if it's a coaster, and I've been on it, then I put it on my Track Record!!
