ARRIVED: 4:35pm

LEFT: 4:50pm

A little background on this day first before I begin. The day was actually spent taking a tour of the city of L.A. I purchased one of those all day packages that had me going all over the city. It included Hollywood and the star homes and a few beaches. One of those beaches happened to be Santa Monica Pier. And sitting on that pier was West Coaster. I had 20 minutes to make it down to the coaster and back before the bus left. That is EXACTLY what I did!!!

PARK APPEARANCE/ATMOSPHERE: Didnt really get to see much of this park. I only spent 15 minutes here and most of it was running to the coaster and back from the coaster.

RIDE QUEUE TIMES: I waited two trains to ride West Coaster. You get two rides for the price of one. I ended up getting off after my first ride because if I didnt I was going to be late for the bus.

BEST EXPERIENCE: Getting to see the Playboy mansion on the tour.

WORST EXPERIENCE: Venice Beach. Just not my scene.

MOST PLEASANT SURPRISE: Getting to ride a coaster on this trip when I had no clue I would see one.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: Not being able to go into the Playboy mansion on the tour.

COASTER RANKINGS

WITHOUT FLAW:
None

REALLY QUITE GOOD:
None

COLD FRIES BAD:
West Coaster (88) - very uninspired layout, more of a family coaster. It had a nice pop of air in there but I dont really remember much of it. This was more of a credit whore stop anyways.

JUST PLAIN AWFUL:
None

MAJOR NON-COASTER ACTIVITIES:
Well there WAS the tour itself. It included downtown L.A., Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel-Aire, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and Marina Del Rey. I did get to see one celebrity, I saw Micheal Keaton drive up along side of our bus and he kind of glanced up at us. For those who wonder what he drives, it is a black Mercedes 500 SL.

BEST NON-COASTER RIDE:
None

OTHER COMMENTS:
Overall not a bad day. Getting a coaster in this day was a heck of a surprise. It put me in a much better position to try and get my 100 on the next day at Magic Mountain...

Darn you, Bob - I've spent 96 hours of my life in that God-forsaken city, and the only celebrity I saw was someone who may or may not have been Jay Mohr.

I skipped the West Coaster, but had a great time people-watching on that very pier in 1998.

You'll never break 100 by skipping coasters, D3n!

and I felt like such a whore running down there are riding the coaster and running back up. Didn't even get to really see the great view everyone was gushing about on the bus.

Hi, my name is Bob and I am a credit whore...

Chris: You got it all wrong--skipping coasters is exactly how you do a Cplaya 100 knockoff. I even dropped whole parks off the itinerary.
