After reading these responses I'm pretty shocked to say the least. I find it hard to believe some of you have thrown around your own personal opinions so loosely and carelessly. Take another look at your reply to this thread, and then take a few steps back.
O.K. Lets look at this way.

What if this same family had the same daughter fall ill to cancer? Can't look to any big company to bail you out. Would the parents both quit their jobs knowing that medical bills have to be paid? Either one has to work to pay them, continue to work to keep the medical insurance active to pay them, or they have tons of money saved up to pay for it.

Unless this family is so well off to do this, someone in the family has to finance this. Of course if you know that a big company will finance this and then some, you wouldn't care to quit your jobs.

We shall see how all this works out in the end.

Ya know...in thinking further about this, would it be so wrong if the parents did use some of the settlement to keep them afloat while they're not working? This accident (which was not an act of God but human error) has deeply affected the whole family. If suing Six Flags allows them to assist their daughter full-time, more power to them. I think people automatically associate any situation like this with greed, but no one on here really knows the Lassiter's true intentions. I don't either, but again, if God forbid something like this happened to my son, you'd better believe my family should be entitled to some sort of compensation to make having to cope with the situation easier.
