All the rides and buildings at Kentucky Kingdom have “significantly deteriorated” and need to be “completely refurbished” to ensure their safety, the group planning to reopen the park says. Ed Hart said in an interview Thursday that the assessment “accurately reflects” Kentucky Kingdom’s condition, but he expressed full confidence that his group will reopen the park on the target date of May 24.

The whole thing is a giant cluster. The fair board should be held accountable for not stabilizing the property after SF bailed out. They are ultimately responsible for the condition the park is in now.
Was not at all surprised when HW backed out. Doesn't take long for rides and infrastructure to deteriorate when they're not being used regularly and properly maintained. Real shame how this went down...a real loss to the entire area.
Still trying to remain hopeful that Hart *can* get this done. Maybe he can hit Rick Pitino (UL's head coach) up for a few million?
Go to google maps and check out the state of the wave pool for an idea of what Hart's dealing with here. Lots of pond scum lol.

Have any theme parks been reopened after a mulit- year hiatus? I am not sure if this has been done before.
