With financing secured, a lease in hand and much of the permanent staff on board, Ed Hart opened Kentucky Kingdom’s front gate Thursday and pronounced that the park will be “bigger, better and wetter” when it reopens May 24. Hart, who operated Kentucky Kingdom for nearly a decade through the 1990s before selling it to Six Flags for about $80 million, said the park is getting its largest expansion in its 25-year history. The park last operated in 2009 as Six Flags went bankrupt.
