Kentucky Kingdom before Six Flags...

We went there a few times before Six Flags took over but now we can't remember what Six Flags added? I was sure that T2 and Chang were already there and the Hellavator. But was the water park there too? Somebody refresh my memory. The first time we went was in 1990 and rode Vampire, Thunder Run and the roller coaster that was inside where Dino Island is!! Is there a website that will tell me in detail what came next and when?? Thanks
No website but I went in 98, In 1999 they got Penguin's Blizzard River, and I think this year they got a sky coaster.

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

In 1998 Twisted Sisters(now Twisted Twins), a CCI dueling woodie, was added to the park. 1999 came Penquin's Blizzard River, a well-themed river rapids ride. The last "major" addition for the park was in 2000 with Roadrunner's Express, a wild mouse. The rest have been upcharge attractions I believe. Then they are definately due for something new next year!!
Well, I wouldn't get your hopes up, but I guess it's possible. If their attendance isn't falling much or increasing, I doubt they'll get anything. Maybe Shaggy can enlighten us more on the state of the park, but I don't think he's too positive about the park's future either.

Kentucky Kingdom's attendance has remained steady for several years, with or without new rides. Why spend the money on a new coaster if the crowds seem satisfied with what they've got? Also, if they get a new coaster, it'll have to be pretty small. The main problem is the airport across the street. The park has a pretty tight height restriction. They have a pretty good sized piece of land next to Chang, and a little behind T2, but that's about it. I've been expecting an Impulse for a while, but nothing larger.

I wouldn't mind if Six Flags pulled an Elitch Gardens with this place and put the whole park somewhere else. A good place to move it would be on I-64, between Lexington and Louisville. It would be easily accesible from both cities, it could be set up with a better layout, and would allow for expansion. Think about it.

All the world is born right-handed. Only the greatest can overcome it.

If anyone is lucky enough to have the final issue of "Amusement Park Journal", from Summer of 1985, then you will find a whole dedicated article on KK. There was also a map of the park, featuring the log flume and the indoor Jet Star.

The article went on about how they will share the parking at the Louisville Fairgrounds, and the park will drop the gate during the annual fair, and use tickets.

Of course the park looked great, and they went bankrupt. More experience was needed in the operation, and the park was just too darned small.
