kentucky

our band is going to kentucky this weekend, who has been there and is it going to be worth my time.
There are allot of things to do in Kentucky. They have quite a few lakes with some good fishing.

Its about time my state gets its own topic. Well to answer your question, not much. I live in western kentucky and the closest theme park is 3 hours away. There is SFKK, and some little park in bowling green but thats about it for that. There are big lakes, but the most exciting thing in kentucky is the blue grass, i can stare at it all day long but it never looks blue to me. There's my old kentucky home, and if your really looking for some fun head on down to frankfort. I will actually be serious when i say that mamooth cave is pretty cool place. And that pretty much sums up kentucky right there.

thanx guys, we will be in louiseville, at sfkk ididn't know if the park was any good
Plenty of people will tell you that it sucks, and it does pale in comparison to some other parks, but if you're there, I would definatly spend some time at SFKK.

If you are in Louisville, it's only about 1.5 hr to Holiday World. SFKK is there by the airport, but isn't as good a park as Holiday World IMO.

I really enjoyed the museum at Churchille Downs when I was there.

I live in Louisville and there is plenty to do here. It is actually a great town.

But speaking in terms of parks and rides, I suppose you mean SFKK.

I'll admit that I have cried foul at the park from time to time, however you definitely CAN have an enjoyable time there.

I may be eating my words, but truthfully the park now has two rides that I think make the park a desired trip. Thunder Run, a woodie and Greezed Lightnin' the new (to SFKK) shuttle loop.

The park definitely has challenges, but the addition this year has put new wind in it's sails.

Don't base your future experience at a park on others opinions of it though. Go with an open mind and take it for what it is. I tend to have a much more enjoyable time when I visit a park with very little expectations.... high or low.

Louisville Slugger museum?

I've only driven through, never stopped, but I assume they have the normal big city things to do... shopping, cool restaurants, etc.

If you were going to Lexington, I'd tell you to try the Ale-8-One.

All i here about is this Ale-8-One, whenever i travel near lexington and i never see it around. What exactly is this drink?

SFKK had its hidden gems and it has its flaws. Chang is definitely worth it, even though its getting a little rough around the edges. By far the best roller coaster there is Thunder Run, that roller coaster blew me away when i first rode it and still does. Very unique layout, and great airtime, if only the rideops would care more about moving the train faster.

It's a very unique soft drink, nicely bottled, well-loved by many central Kentuckians (and some former southern Ohioans like myself). The best way I can think of to describe the taste is ginger-ale, only more rich and smooth with a fruity aftertaste.

It's a love-it-or-hate-it thing, though. I've heard many Kentuckians describe it as "swamp water."

You should be able to get it at most any gas station or grocery store in Lexington and the surrounding counties (though I hear there's a paucity of it on the UK campus). It will not be found in Louisville...

The way I look at amusement parks that have a reputation of being substandard is, "would I rather be at this amusement park or would I rather be doing something else?" Almost always the amusement park will win out because even the worst amusement parks still give me more smiles and enjoyment than most other activities in life(there are exceptions that I wont mention here).

Bottom line is this, go visit SFKK, have some fun, form your own opinion of the park. If you don't like the park, think of whether you would have rather been doing something else than that park and you may find a new found appreciation for the place. I fully intend on visiting this park during SRM week. I have heard horrible things about this park but it wont deter me from giving it a shot and forming my own opinion of it.
