Kennywood has announced that their new launched roller coaster, set to open this spring, will be called Sky Rocket.
Read more from AP via KDKA/Pittsburgh.
That does look good. I like the name too.

What's with all the throwback names lately? Shoot the Rapids, Sky Rocket.... Not that I'm complaining -- they're both fine names. It's just an interesting trend.

This feels like deja vu...
Great name and great logo (it's on the Kennywood home page). So retro, but not so retro anymore! Very cool!
Well it beats Banshee by a long shot! Plus, I don't think anybody will get offened by it.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!
Here's hoping the second half of the layout is taken with speed... I think that'll be the difference between it being a great ride and a "meh" one. Cool name though, cue the Afternoon Delight puns.

^Can someone please explain the 'afternoon delight' thing to me? Does it have something to do with the song? Thanks :)
^UGH...now I feel really old!
This'll explain (it's the original version). For those of you who are younger this version may be more familiar to you.
^Aw come on Moosh, I remember the song - guess I'm that old too :)
So, just b/c the song says "skyrocket's in the sky"? Ok, I think I get it now.
That's about the stupidest song that I've ever heard, but Anchorman is awesome!
This coaster still doesn't do anything for me. It looks like a capacity nightmare too, and given the location, near the entrance of the park, it will probably have an incredibly long line.
What were they thinking?

To those of you who don't recognize the original version:
I hate you. Get off my lawn. Don't make me put the hose on you. Thank you and goodnight.

I don't know what they were thinking, but *I'm* thinking "Hey, shorter Phantom line!"

You didn't see the recent rumor on Screamscape that Kennywood was considering getting into the virtual queue game?
That should make all of your conspiracy circuits light up. ;)
Wow... I am not that old and I thought the same thing... Sky Rocket in Flight... and I am not opposed to the next line either!
Looks like a nice addition to Kennywood, and as far as capacity nightmare... what the highest capacity coaster there. I think that would be racer. Otherwise Jack Rabbit, Exterminator, and Thunderbolt are cetainly not high capacity rides. Come to think of it Phantoms Revenge may not even be capable of pulling much over 1000 riders/hour. I just think overall this means more evenly distributed queues throughout the park.
OMG...that song brings back memories of diesel fumes on the school bus mixed with the warm glow of afternoon sun beating on the stinky grade school aroma following gym glass near final period....ewww...Hope the ride is better than the song!
