Kennywood....Corporate or Family?

Thanx for clearing that up. It does matter if its corporate or not to me. I dont like being treated as a number when i go to a amusement park. I like to feel that my being there is a great thing for the park. I think i might have saw someone high up in KW last year he greeted me. A gentleman by the name of Adam Johanson. Anyone know of him or who he was?

If there's an Adam Johanson at KP, he's no one high up.

I know it not a big place, but when a gonna' recieve atleast one note worthy ride?

Actually, if I recall correctly, Idlewild IS a big place, certainly larger than Kennywood. Kennywood has chosen to keep Idlewild a smaller attraction for families, with the focus for thrills being on Kennywood instead.

Having just been to Idlewild I can attest that it is indeed a HUGE park, much bigger than Kennywood. It also has an excellent ride collection including an under-rated Vekoma mouse. I don't see Idlewild getting a huge thriller and frankly I think it would ruin the atmosphere. Idlewild does excellent business, there's no need for anything new just yet.

ummm you're timeline isn't correct. Splash harbors was definitely 98 and I think the Top Spin and all that cool stuff was in 97.

I'm talking about the Lighthouse, Jon, which did come in 97. Not all of the water park came in 97, it ranged over a 30 years span. Top Spin, Zoomerang, Kiddie Coaster, Ghost Hunt, Sky Coaster, Mamooth Falls, and Boulder Dash definentaly didn't all come in 1997.

Just a commenton Idlewild. The recent book Pennsylvania Amusement Parks makes mention of the fact that two of the reasons why Kennywood Entertainment bought Idlewild were 1) to save and preserve the "classic / traditional" look of the park and 2) to keep it from falling into the hands of a corporation that would turn it into a major thrill / theme park (i.e. they didn't want major competition less than an hour east of them).

Those two facts being stated... I doubt if we will ever see any major scream machines at Idlewild.

I usually do not expect a very objective opinion if a coaster or park is part of the "user name"
