Kennywood Park in the Dark 10/23/04

Associated parks:
None

Heavy crowds. Very busy. Only did the coasters as I was heading Cedar Point that night. (see report later). Up exit ramp to Phantom. Awesome in front. Its great anywhere actually. 9/10. What a hyper. Walked to Exterminator. Almost entirely dark. 7/10. Walked back through 'Gory Park'. It has potential. Next year guys, have PittFall open, please.

Up the ramp to Thunderbolt. A bit rough on the last drop. Its due to weather. 9.5/10. Had some pizza next to Kiddieland. 6/10. Good idea to do personal size for the event. Racers, with big lines and they kept moving. That ride is soooo smooth. 9/10. Line was moving for Jack Rabbit, too. 8/10.

Kennywood had their ride operators loading and unloading pretty efficient. The Racer guys did a 100% better job than those giggling and goofing off girls last August. I hope they were fired.

Most impressive was mechanics walking around dressed up, and more mechanics, and their HP director Joe B. serving up wings and burgers by the Paratroopers. Total Team effort!

The park was mobbed, but everyone is in line to do the Haunted Walk throughs, which, I am told, get better every year. It started to rain, and no one left any line, which is amazing. They added big screens to show movies to pass the time. Kennywood is on to something big here, and they keep getting better. Overall trip, though only about 4 hours long, 8/10.

I noticed a big screen next to the manor. What movies do they show?

Also, why were the lights inside Garfield's Nightmare on when the ride wasn't open?

They were showing "House on Haunted Hill", the original with Vincent Price. The Racer was very smooth. Being it is, like 78 years old, I think it is well maintained, and it is a mutual opinion of every other manager from my park who has ridden it over time. WE know a good thing.

Racer is a silky smooth for as old as it is.

I was there the same night, and yeah, it was packed. The traffic off of 376 was backed up as well as the lines in Blockbuster to buy the discounted tickets. The rain didnt scare us away either, stayed until 12:45.

We only got on Phantom, Exterminator, King Kahuna, Bayern Kurve and Jack Rabbit along with two haunted houses.

I really wish they would do a little more with Exterminator along the lines of a dark ride. More sounds and sudden bright lights to distract you from the next drop or hairpin.

8.3, We thought it'd be spookier to ride in the dark and not know where you're going.

The PittFall only had 2 sections operable at the end of the season. That coupled with the PFN crowds, and the capacity just wasn't sufficient to run it.

I was out of town this weekend, but I heard Saturday was the busiest ever.

The other movie, in the Terrorvisions line, is Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

Hi

It was pretty darn busy on Friday night, too. Glad to see the Halloween thing is working out for Kennywood.

Killer Klowns is a CLASSIC. Whoever selected that, good one.

Where's Debbie?!?

KKFOS has got to be one of the worst B-movies I've ever seen.....It was so bad, that it is very entertaining. I'd like to kidnap someone in a great big yellow balloon :)

I also think we should sell Cotton Candy right below the screen...

Hi

Maybe you could have if you were not selfish and take off on a weekend. Maybe you should give back last weeks paycheck to the owners to make up the lost revenue.
Actually we sell 20oz bottled drinks and $3 bags of popcorn, but no cotton candy. Lol

Actually, I was out of town on business. So although I was not there, I was still collecting that paycheck, too.

Y'now, between you and Lord Gonchar, I'm never at the park when one of you comes out. Why must you all avoid me?

Hi

AJ Good Times Ahead. I will try to make it to KP next year for Halloween.

Need more Input
I shall pass through for an evening. I am planning to do an entire weekend at Cedar Point. I understand they have indoor waterparks. Good times.
