Kennywood has always had a no rainchecks policy. This is no longer the case.
If it rains hard enough to close down the majority of rides for more than two consecutive hours, you get in free the next time you come.
It's a nice way to get people in the park on not-so-good forecast days. Really, if you get a few good hours in with no crowds, it's like a 2-for-1 pass.
Hi
P.S. This will by my 4th time there in the past 5 years come Memorial Day weekend, LOL...Three(!) classic wooden coasters in ONE park, that's just an embarrassment of riches, and the other stuff is just LOADS of....mmmmm, GRAVY!
Now, why wasn't this in place when I worked there? ;)

They have bathrooms in the group sales offices next door. Please explain what 'quite a distance' means.
Sorry, but I don't have any blueprints. I found my notes from the presentation, and according to my notes Mary Lou Rosemeyer (PR director for the park, I believe) said it cost "millions to pump water up the mountain".
She may have exaggerated, or she may be talking about a different area than you mention with the group sales offices, or maybe the existing water lines don't support the volume needed for public restrooms. She did say she had to use an outhouse for 3 months because of the construction, and I seem to remember she said her office was being completely moved?
I've only been to Kennywood once, 3 years ago, and I didn't pay much attention to the entrance, as I was too mesmerized by the rides and atmosphere.
Maybe someone else remembers more details from her presentation?
Hi
(Yes, it was a special circumstance. KennyCon got washed out, and every person in the park got a return pass when exiting when the park closed early. That's the key: the park closed early.)
