Kennywood Insider's Guide adds Phantom's Revenge video

Posted | Contributed by Kennywood Insider

Kennywood Insider's Guide has added POV video of Phantom's Revenge that highlights the ride from the top of the lift all the way into the station brakes. This 56-second long video is 4.25 MB.

The video contains no sound, but you don't need sound when you're watching the awe-inspiring layout of this ride.

It looks cool video, but you will never feel the same when you ride this Phantoms Revenge.

Kennywood is just a neighborhood from my home.
I really hope to get a chance to ride this thing. Looks awesome!

I'm afraid this gets my lowest rating ever. Seven thumbs up.
Nice video.

Phantoms revenge is such a wild ride. What ever you do make sure to get front seat this ride never slows down and give massive airtime. The only downer was I got stapled on it twice.
I don't want to download Quicktime. Windows Media Player is better.

Well too bad. It requires QuickTime, so if you don't have it, then you can't view the video. :)

Very unique layout
Cool layout. 1)Millennium Force 2)Incredible Hulk 3)Alpengeist 4)Raptor 5) Dueling Dragons 6) VERTICAL VELOCITY 7) Raging Bull 8) Apollo's Chariot. Phantom's Revenge is good. But Alpengeist is better. :)
Quicktime is way better than Media Player!...Maybe I have a biast opinion since I have several downloads of Cedar Point coasters, and POV animations from Badnitrus. Oh well, that shows you which player is better right there. :)

Your best? Losers are always whining about doing their best...winners go home and ******* the prom queen.
Incredible video. I love how you can actually see when the car hits the airtime. Everything goes smooth for a second, then bang! the car shakes as you're thrown back into your seat. Incredible ride.

And I just noticed... does that train stop outside the station?

I have quicktime, but I can't see the video!
Yes Lynch, the train does stop outside the station. That is because it was an empty train.

Empty trains completely stop on the brake run. In the mornings, Kennywood actually tests PR with two trains running. But when they open the ride, they can only run one train, since it slides into the station with a full train.
Coaster File, if you have Quick Time, it should work fine. Maybe you don't have the most recent version? *** This post was edited by Kennywood Insider on 8/3/2001. ***
I just came back from Kennywood yesterday. Had they ran two trains, then there would NOT have even been a line in the peak of the season (I was not the only one in line to notice this). I personally do not buy the "too fast" theory. We noticed NO slide with a full train.

However, The video is way too cool and Kennywood Insider should be congradulated, I wish someone could do this for all coasters.

All Coasters are Not Created Equally
Thanks, No Fear :). I believe that a couple magnetic brakes have been placed in the brackets. That might have slowed the train down a little (this is just what I've heard, I haven't actually seen it). The train has been sliding 19 feet into the station, and it would be impossible to run a safe two-train operation.

I believe there are 17 brackets that will be setup. At KennyKon, only 12 of them were set up. Again, I don't know if the remaining brackets have been placed on the track yet.

But what I do know, is that this whole magnetic brake thing has been a real headache for Kennywood. So, I really don't think we'll see two-train operation this year. :(

Ah, I get it KW Insider. By the way, can you reveal how you got that video? Media day? Connections? ;)

Anyway... You may not have noticed the slide into the station because it doesn't look like a slide. Because the car just moves right into the station, it almost looks like it's supposed to happen that way. At least, that's what it seemed like to me...

I have my ways, err, connections ;)

Like Lynch said, the slide into the station almost looks natural. It doesn't just stop midway in the station. It slows down and glides into the station before coming to a hault.

I have a feeling everyone will be able to get more rides in next year with two trains.

Well, come to think of it. I think Kennywood actually PLANNED to have one train running! This reduces the amount of prizes they have to give away for the Frequent Phanatics ;)

QuickTime is the best video format out there. If it wasn't then all of the editing stuff out there wouldn't use it as a platform. Windows Media is good for streaming, if you have a Win2k server (like this one).

The video isn't bad, but you need someone to crop and encode it properly.

Yeah, I would like to do that, but I have no clue how to do any video editing. I assume it requires other software - software that I don't have. For now, this video will have to suffice.

I have always prefered QuickTime since it seems to load faster.
