Kennywood Closing Time Question

Thursday, July 26, 2001 4:00 AM
I was thinking about going to Kennywood this weekend so I went to the web site to find out when they opened and closed. I was surprised to see that for closing time the web site said
‘Park Closing Time: No set closing time; determined daily depending upon weather and crowd conditions’
On a typical July Saturday with good weather, when do they normally close? 9;00, 10:00, 11:00?
And how do they let the guests know that the park is closing? Do they just start closing rides or make some sort of announcement? Thanks.

Usually 15 minutes before closing time, the "Voice of Kennywood" comes on the loud speakers and announces that the park will close soon.

On a typical July Saturday with good weather I would guess around 11:00. On crowded days, they've been known to close around midnight. Usually during peak season, they wouldn't close before 10:00.

Have fun!

I've been in the park as late as 1:00 am. It really does depend on the crowds and weather.

The three best-kept secrets in the industry are:
a) Cedar Point's next unannounced attraction
b) Details of Tomb Raider
c) What time Kennywood closes tonight

On both of my visits this year, though, Kennywood has made an announcement in the early evening as to when they were planning to close. But the real key is the Voice of Kennywood and the fifteen minutes of closing music.

I was there last week on Thursday, with not that big of a crowd, and the park closed at 10:30 PM.

RideMan, I see you've added "Tomb Raider Details" to your list of "Best-Kept Secrets." I remember a thread similar to this one last year, and there were only two things on that list. :)

Thanks for the info. I figured the park would be open late during peak season, but its good to get confirmation from people who have been there.
Not that I hope it croweded when I go, but a midnight ride on PR would be fun.

You should note that Phantom's Revenge's queue and Lost Kennywood close before the rest of the park. Of course, though, if you get in line before PR's queue does close, you will get your ride.
