Kennywood August 28 - Escaping Irene - Chain Restaurants - Pittsburgh

Do the inlcine at night.

Better yet, go up while it's light out, get dinner up there, and come back down after dark.

Hi

To me, LeMont, like most of places up on Mt Washington, is overpriced and overrated for what you get. The food is ok, but you can do better if that's what you're after.

The VIEW is amazing, though, so for the overall dining experience it can be worth it.

As kpjp said, the inclines are better at night, but the best is going up while it's light and back down at night.

Quick rundown of my 42hrs in Pittsburgh:

-Traffic on 376, at most hours of the day, is a bitch.

-Walked along the river, by Heinz Field and PNC Park, such a beautiful area, loved it. Slipped into Rivers Casino, and out 10 minutes later $100 poorer.

-DeLuca's for breakfast was amazing. Pumpkin pancakes were outstanding.

-Fatheads for dinner was as good as you all said. Had some good beer, and a great pulled pork 'headwich'.

-Primanti's was very tasty. I was able to finish the sandwich, and was satisfied, but didn't feel like I had eaten a greasy nasty sandwich (as some reviews had mentioned). The woman who waited on us at the counter was very snippy. If I had gotten that kind of service anywhere else, I probably would've walked out. I asked for Decaf coffee and she looked at me like I was nuts and said they don't have that.

On to Kennywood! Went on Friday night, gates opened a little before 7. The tunnel into the park was filled with fog and actors, great fun, and really sets the mood for the entire park that night. We rode all of the coasters (sans Exterminator), and Ghostwood Estate. Everything was 10-30 minute waits. The lines for the haunts were much much longer. The only 'haunt' we did was Gory Park, very decent. This was my 2nd time to Kennywood, and the 1st time to Phantom Fright Nights. I would definitely want to make this an annual trip, during Phantom Fright Nights. This was easily the best Halloween park event I've ever been to...although PPP is #1 for different reasons.
