Kennywood 8/11/03

Great day at Kennywood. I went with a friend, Bill, and his two boys, Lance and Troy. They recently moved to Pittsburgh last summer. We have been trying to go for several weeks, but the weather did not cooperate. The weather held out today, even though there was a 40% chance of rain.

The park had a good crowd. There was a cheerleader competition going on which was great to watch.

We hit the Jackrabbit first. Great ride. Everyone loved it. Then we hit the Racer. Troy, the younger boy, is not too keen on heights, but still liked the ride.

After the racer, the two boys and I hit the Rapids while Bill stayed behind. I lucked out and did not get too wet. Troy got soaked. Next, we hit the Gold Rusher and then off to the Thunder Bolt. Everyone loved the Thunder Bolt and Bill said that it is now his favorite coaster.

Next, we hit the Phantom. The boys did not think that they were ready for it, so they stayed behind and rode some flats while Bill and I rode, middle of the train. Bill just loved it.

Next was a few rides on the Pittsburgh Plunge and then off to the Exterminator. Everyone loved the ride.

We rode and rerode all afternoon long and had a great time. Later in the day, Bill wanted to go back on the Phantom, but we still could not talk the boys into it, so they went to the Exterminator. The line was short for the Phantom, so I talked bill into a front seat ride. He could not believe how much better and faster it seems in the front. He's hooked. We sat down and waited for the boys.

When they returned, Bill wanted to try the Pitt Fall as he has never been on a drop ride. The boys wanted no part of it, so they hit the Plunge again while Bill and I rode the Pitt Fall. The boys made it back while we were still in line and got to see us ride. I think Bill's finger prints are still in the hand holds, but he did enjoy the ride.

We finished off the night with a few more coaster rides and then headed home about 10 PM.

Ugh, so did you like the park? And what did you like about it and what didn't you? Come on man, if you're going to write a TR, at least put a little effort into it.

Yea? The park was great. We loved it. The only thing that we didn't like was the fact that they need to have a few more people wiping off the tables where you sit down and at. It was hard to find a clean one.

What's with the "Are you just trying to get posts?"???

There was nothing wrong with that trip report...

The boys not wanting to Ride the Phantom makes me remember when I was at Kennywood a few weeks ago with my cousin. He rode everything, including Pitt Fall, but wanted no part of the Phantom. I later asked him why, and he said he dosent feel safe in the lap bars, and that he would feel safer if it had shoulder harnesses. The non-enthusiasts are messed up in the head sometimes.

Glad you had a good time at the park:) Did you like the King Kahuna and Volcano valley?

You know, sometimes a trip report that doesnt follow the same format is a good thing. I am getting a little tired of everyone hyper analyzing every detail at a park. Sometimes it is nice to read a report where you can tell that the person had a great time without having to read through all of the negative criticism of the park.

Glad you had a great time. I will be at Kennywood in less than two weeks :):)

Jeez, people. This is better than many of the reports on here.

Some people go to parks to have fun, not analyze every detail. I know when I write reports, I end up writing more about the random things that happened during the day than the rides. Everyone knows that PR is a great ride; I enjoyed the descriptions of the kids' adventures more than I would have a nitpicking critique of a roller coaster.

Yeesh.

This was not my first time at the park, so I did not think that I had to rate each ride, I just talked about the day that we had.

I thought it was a good trip report, too. Don't worry, trip reports don't HAVE to be about rating each and every little nitpicky thing. Those can get tedious anyway.

I too thought your trip report was good enough and of appropriate length. Who knows where those comments up above came from. I'm getting a hunch that CoastinCorey was just following the post before him and going along with the flow of where he thought SFGAMan was trying to take the thread.

This post was in response to a drunk post that I made. It said "word" and that was it. SFGAMan was just responding to my drunk post. I deleted it when i found it the next day. Sorry for, first of all, making a silly post, and second, making SFGAMan look like a jerk. Anyways, good TR, and I will try to stay off the posts when im under the influince.

Under-age drinking eh? tsk tsk You owe more than an apology to SFGAMan, you made him look like a jerk.

Question: If you're not supposed to post "under the influence", why is it called coasterBUZZ anyway? Perhaps that's one we'll leave to the philosophers...

Isn't this a site for coaster enthusiasts/beekeepers? Or am I the only one??
