Kennywood 6/29

Associated parks:
None

I was supposed to visit the park on the 28, but the sunny weather that had been predicted by the local weather men turned into rain Monday morning. (Sometimes they can't even look out their window and tell you what the weather is doing) Oh well.

Tuesday turned out to be a great day. The sun came out but the temp did not get too hot. We arrived at the park at about 10:30. We got in line for the Jack Rabbit and they opened it up at about 10 till 11. We were on the first train of the day. One train operation in the morning, two trains later in the day.

After a few rides, we headed over to the racer for a few laps. Green and Blue trains were running and blue was winning most of the races.

After a few laps on the racer we headed over to the ThunderBolt. Sometimes I forget how good this coaster is. Wow. Everytime that I ride this ride, I get mad at myself for not making time to visit Kennywood more often. This is only my first visit of the year. I had made plans a few times, but they fell through or it rained or something.

One of the two boys in our group is afraid of heights and was not sure he wanted to try PR yet so we passed it up and headed over to the Exterminator. Two rides in a fairly short period of time and all four of us were walking a little funny.

We hit the Plunge and some other flats including King Kahuna. This was the first time on this type of ride for the friends that I brought and they loved it.

We did a lot of reriding and had something to eat and then it was finally time for the PR. Neather of the two boys had been on it. I took them last year, but they did not think that they wanted to ride it. I hoped that I could get them on it because I want to take them to CP but if they are not comfortable with PR than I don't think that they would feel comfortable with a lot tof the rides at CP. Well they got on this year and they loved it. I tried to get them back on in the front seat but they were not ready for that so we stayed in the middle.

They did not want to do the Pitt Fall, maybe next time, so we just kept riding and reriding other rides. What a great day. On the way home, both boys were out like a light before we hit 279. I really have to make more time for this park and visit more often than I do.

The blue train was crushing all day Sunday too, it was coming in 1-1.5 train lengths ahead all day. Wierd.
Both sides of the track too. It must have new wheels or wheel bearings or something. The few times green won, it was only by a nose.

The blue train has been running all year. The green train has only been on for a couple of weeks. It's probably just looser.
