I finally made it out to Kennywood for the first time in 2000.
INTRO FOR THE DAY:
*Closed rides: Bayern Kurve, Flying Carpet, Pitt Fall
*Celebrity alert: McFoley from the WWF was spotted walking around the park.
*Weather: cloudy/sunny, highest temp: approx. 76 F.
*Crowds: light early to moderate late in the day.
I arrived at about 11:30 and immediately went towards the Jack Rabbit. My friend Richard and I sat in the second-to-last seat for lots of airtime on the double-dip.
The Jack Rabbit seemed to be running slower than usual, but no matter what it's always a great ride. Again, only one car was running.
Next, we headed over towards the Racer (no line!) and we got on the red car while my dad went on the green car. The green car won, but only by inches.
After riding the Racer, we headed towards the Log Jammer (again no line!). We looked at the last drop and didn't see the camera that was supposed to be there this year. Anyways, we got on and then we saw the camera on the first drop! That caught us offgaurd so we wanted to ride again so we could make a face at the camera. When we pulled back into the station we didn't even have to get off because the employee said, "wanna ride again?" and ofcourse we said yes. So we got to make a face at the camera! :P But sadly, the booths where you are supposed to view and buy your photos were closed. The on-ride photos must still be in the testing stages.
Now it was time for the big moment. We approached the new Aero 360 (no line) and hopped right on. Boy is this a great ride! Lots of air time and you get the feeling in your stomach like you do on the Pirate. Upside down 8 times! Woohoo!
After this we ate lunch at my favorite spot. The refreshment stand across from the Jack Rabbit, where I always get my helping of chicken fingers and fries.
Then Rich and I went to the Thunderbolt and queued for the front seat. Another great ride on the T-Bolt! Some of the people in line we a bit sceptical that they were having problems. Some were suggesting that McFoley was really just on the ride. Anyways...
We wanted to get one last ride on Aero 360. It was as good as the first. I'd ride it a thousand times over if I had the chance. The Aero 360 is - well - "Over The Top!"
And just so you know, I did NOT ride the Steel Phantom because I didn't want to. It's a very rough ride but I do plan on riding it the next time I go, which will be in June. And the next time I go, I will be sporting a great Aero 360 t-shirt which I bought on the way out for $14.95.
WRAP-UP:
*I did not see Garfield or any of the mascots.
*We didn't ride any dark rides due to the short amount of time we were there.
*1 car was running on every coaster (except for the Exterminator), just like they have been.
Any comments, please post them here. Thanks.

Kennywood Park Unlimited
Cool report.
It's apparently "Mick Foley", by the way. That's also supposedly his real name, not a stage name. I've been told he's actually a coaster nut and hits every park he can (so he can't be ALL bad ;-) ). I knew he was in Pittsburgh this weekend because he was doing a signing at the Pittsburgh Comic Convention (which I intentionally avoided today, I'm sure it was MOBBED with kids)
I imagine Kennywood will be running one-train operation for a few more weekends. That's too bad about the Exterminator -- when I rode it on the Preview day (twice even :-) ) it seemed to be running just fine.

You know, it never dawned on me until now that they DID remove the TV monitors from the Exterminator queue. I pointed out in my Preview-Day post that much hype was given to the fact that Kennywood was going to add special effects to the queue of Exterminator, but nothing has appeared yet...
Pitfall and Bayern are still closed?? Wonder what's going on?? (usually it's the Enterprise that is always closed) Interesting enough, the last part of Noah's Ark (water chamber) was not working either the other weekend, have they since opened it??
Though it was announced that Garfield and Odie are coming to the park, I remember reading somewhere, that they'll debut on Memorial Day (I could be mis-quoting though) but their merchandise sure does have a presence there!
