Kennywood 2/28/00

I was in Kennywood today. Plenty of action. The Racers have 2 trains on, as the Jack Rabbit. The Pirate, Paratroopers, and Whip were ready to go. The Wipeout was being tested, while the Swing Around was having the last cars attached.

Phantoms Revenge was still the height of the noise. They were sinking about 10 footers at once, with multiple trucks lined up in the park ready to 'dump'.

There were several retail shops being loaded,and new games buildings were under construction. The Thunderbolt was receiving a large amount of new track, Several sections are removed to make way for the PR drops. I think the Thunderbolt will ride like new when it opens. *** This post was edited by Agent Johnson on 2/28/2001. ***

I was shocked to see how much of Thunderbolt was removed for the construction. Did they remove that much for the original Phantom?

No, just on section, the very bottom of the last drop. I took photos, as no one in my park would believe what they do to build.

Things are really starting to come together and it sure is exciting. Trucks were unloading supports when I got there at 11am. With most of the footers poured, it is easy to imagine the track being there. I have been there everyday this week and do not plan to stop until I see vertical construction. I wonder how they would feel if I camped there...
