As you hopefully read these two trip reports, remember: it's a collaboration of two people's thoughts.
WOW! In one word, you can describe Kennywood.
We drove from Toledo to Pittsburgh at 7am, arrived at the park around 11am. $19 admission. I'll start this by saying, if you haven't been to Kennywood, begin planning a trip no matter if you go next year when it's "Phantomless", this park should be on a cloud surrounded by angels playing harps.
At the gate, a 40 year old couple pay to get in ahead of us. The woman complained, "$20 to get in now, JC (fill it in) WE ARE NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN!" I looked at her and chuckled, "Thanks, that means more ride time for us." My buddy Steve and I were in complete disbelief that anyone would complain about the lowest price of admission this side of the Mississippi River. I told the ticket girl that she should go pay $40 at CP...the ticket girl gave us a cute, shining laugh.
We grabbed a Chicken sandwich, which was one of the best Amusement park food delights you could ask for. Sliced, grilled chicken covered in swiss cheese with a side of excellent fries and a soda...for only $6!!!!! We sat by the carrousel while we watched the mascot play with the kids, surrounded by ancient trees, beautiful landscaping and the smell of clean, cut grass. This was only our first 10 minutes in the park!
Anyways, we used the great tips of Coasterpunk and KennywoodFan and went immediately to Exterminator. To our surprise, 5 minute wait, unbelievable ride. If Cedar Point does not get one of these in the next 2 years, they are DOING US WRONG!!! Theming was great, the spinning, wild mouse cars in the dark was a great way to start. Next, we went to Thunderbolt for two walk on laps. How underrated is this coaster? Great rides, one in front and one in back. Who ever gets the left side gets crushed the whole ride, so I stuck Steve there, of course.

Woody: Now you know what we who have grown up with Kennywood being "our park" mean when we say it's a must. It's not the biggest,just the best.
We're going to Kenny Kon in August. It's a little tough sometimes to get back "home" from the West Coast,but it's always worth it.

THIS is why I'm proud to call Kennywood my home park. It's not the biggest park, it doesn't necessarily have the best-of-breed rides, but the overall experience WORKS.
I can't BELIEVE someone was complaining about admission prices! Yes, they've gone up a bit over the years, but it's STILL one of the most reasonable gate prices around.

Those potato patch fries have been voted best in the 'burgh for many years!! Jeff, like I said, let us know when you make your next trip.. we'll try and organize a (the first) Coasterbuzz gathering?
And a little suggestion for you arcade junkies out there Dave & Busters recently opened on the Waterfront next to Sandcastle (5 min. from KW). That place reminds me of Las Vegas, without the gambling. Tons-o-virtual reality type attractions!
