I made another trip to Kennywood on Monday, July 1st. It looked like rain all morning, so when I got there, there were no lines at all.
I started out on Phantom's Revenge, and got a quick 5 rides on it. I rode in the back twice, front twice, and towards the middle once. The Phantom seemed a lot rougher than it was on my Kennywood Picnic, especially in the back. I was thrown all around, and usually I love it, but for some reason, my head kept on being thrown backwards and I got a couple of bad jolts. I decided to wait for the front, and it was well worth it, the airtime is still really strong, but without the really bad whipping that I experienced in the back the other day. The Phantom is still my #1 coaster, but for some reason, it seemed a lot rougher...maybe beacause in between my Kennywood trips, I rode the really smooth Apollo's Chariot, and got a little used to that one. Still, the extreme airtime on the Phantom is what makes it good....it's one of a kind.
The Thunderbolt was great as usual...kinda tame in the front, but great in the back. Same goes for the other wooden coasters, they're all the best in the back.
The Exterminator had new special effects, it was mostly all in the dark on my visit, which made it really awesome. All the drops too were in the dark.
The Whip does look weird without the roof but it runs pretty much like the old Whip, but the "whip" didn't seem as intense.
The Paratrooper ran fine and it's tough to even tell it was damaged. I did see a huge new tree stump, which I'm assuming is the tree that fell on it.
Overall, had another great day at a wonderful amusement park that I never get tired going to. I could hardly tell there was a major storm that blew through Kennywood, since everything looked normal, and Kennywood cleaned up everything. Everyone should get to Kennywood this summer.
