"Keepers of the Magic Kingdom"

I came across this story on another board and I was so fascinated by it, I just had to distribute it further :-)

Its an article published by the LA Weekly which depicts the eerie people who "don“t go regularily to Disneyland - maybe just five days a week."

It is VERY long but for me it could have gone on for pages.

While reading this, i felt like some James Graham Ballard novels finally became reality after 30 years.

Its very entertaining and disturbing at the same time. Maybe its exaggerated, maybe its vile, but judge for yourself.

"at times he felt like living in a gondola of a ferris wheel, permanently suspended 100 ft above the ground" (J.G.Ballard: "High Rise")

Wow! Yeah, I would say that those fine folks are pretty much into their Disney. Now who is ready to move down to Orlando with me and become an "Acolyte of Universal"?

G's! They're what's for dinner!

He wasn't joking when he said it was long :-P...

... and yes, that is pretty disturbing in my views, lol... still a cool read nonetheless.

It's a bit sad, really. The people adore Disney and spend a lot of their time there; whatever. It's no better or worse than people who religiously follow sports or bands or anything else.

I'm annoyed that the author of the article took the low road and, essentially, mocked those people in print. The author doesn't like or understand the appeal of Disney parks? Fine. Don't mock the people that do -- even to an extreme.
