Yeah, that's not paintshop - I just went on Kazaa and there's the same ad there now. I wonder why they haven't shut Kazaa down yet? They shut down Napster for music, but Kazaa has everything.

I think Napster was just WAY too big, so they shut it down. Honestly, I find more mp3s now on Soulseek than I ever got on Napster. Technology has gotten better, and it's not the "cool" thing to do anymore, so now you can have it all!

Kazaa crashed my computer too! You just need to make sure someone doesn't upload/download (what ever way you look at it) something from your computer.
I think it's impossible to shut Kazaa down because it doesn't run off of a central computer. I'm not sure about this though, that's what one of my friends told me.
They haven't shut down Kazaa because technically it's not illegal. Kazaa is a file sharing program, (other kazza users upload the file you want to you, and you aren't downloading things) So in other words, Kazaa is perfectly legal, and thats why it's not shut down yet.
Kazaa is not doing anything illegal, but it's users are. That sort of sharing and trading of software and music is illegal. The files do not go through kazaa, but are sent directly from the computer that is uploading the file to the computer that is downloading it. It cannot be shut down without removing it from everybody's computer who has it. Kazaa merely provides the tools to pirate software. It is like a gun manufacturer being blamed for somebody using their weapons to kill someone. (I do believe that advertisement, however, does prove that kazaa condones and even promotes illegal activity.)

Also, if you would actually look on kazaa, you would see that it has the "gold" kazaa icon, which means that it's a demo. Calm down, and learn what youre complaining about first.

1.) There is no gold icon, it is the regular icon, and the full version of RCT2

2.) The demo that was created was only 60mb, not 123mb...

Sure looks like and advertisement to me. When users upload files from their own computers, Kazaa doesn't put ads on the main screen. That's a paid advertisement. That's how they stay in business.

(On a sidenote, have you people heard of Anti-Virus software?)

Come on, fhqwgads!

Actually, download it and see. A friend downloaded it, to find that it actually was a demo.

Anti-Virus doesn't always work because the companys put out a new update for every virus that comes out, and if you were to not update, the virus detection may be no good because the virus that you may have downloaded may not be recognized or detected by that version of your Anti-Virus.

Kazaa avoids legal action because its servers are based in countries that dont regulate it. They have tried in the U.S. to go after Kazaa but in the end they really cant touch them.

Yes they can. Kazaa continues to operate on the notion that they conduct legitmate business, but it won't last. There are suits pending against them, they will eventually lose.

it's not a demo, i played it yesterday thinking wow kazaa thanks! i played most of the scenarios and they were fine, but once you leave the game, you can't get back into it with out paying 25$ US to unlock the game. i have a friend trying to unlock it at this very moment:)

Colossus [1]
Nemesis: Inferno [6]

Don't quote me, but I believe the reason Kazaa still exists is its inexplicable difference to Napster. Napster was file sharing in one centralized location; however, Kazaa is a dispersed PTP File sharing program, which would be rather diffucult to dismantle.

What you described UK Nemisis sure sounds like a demo to me.

I'm on Kazaa every day. I don't know what I'll do once it shuts down. Are there any other file sharing programs like Kazaa on the internet right now?

Before Infogrames became Atari, they actually had a server connected to Kazaa with a Username of Infogrames Entertainment, and would put a DEMO version of all there other software up on Kazaa. I am sure this is what the banner is refering too.

Yes, there are plenty of others out there. Go to Download.com and look around.
