The double bunny hops look awesome, like SROS at the end.

Yeah, that might be true, but Matt... you still haven't ridden it. ;)

*edit* Funny... after my comment, I realized Matt was talking about MF. I was referring to SD2K. *** Edited 3/11/2008 2:20:10 AM UTC by nasai***

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

AV, I hope you're being sarcastic as I have yet to go on a kiddie coaster that has that steep of a drop, overbank turns, and relentless speed.

Yeah, I'm probably stupid for taking the bait, as it where, but it's a fairly dumb comment.

It could be a bit longer for my taste, but the first thing that came to my mind was if HW would ever build a steel coaster, this would be great, IMO. Just a little dreamin'.

Something like this would be perfect for Marine World with the ridiculous height restriction and all. I could see them moving the go-carts and having this built partially over the lake.
Despite all the positive buzz around these new, well designed, more 'moderately' sized coasters, I think there STILL is something to be said about the 250+ foot coasters. Yes, they are very expensive and not all parks can build them, but I still hope we'll be seeing more Steel Dragon 2000s, Millennium Force's, and Goliath's in the future. Even a twisted coaster like Kawasemi can't replace the thrill derived from great heights. *** Edited 3/16/2008 4:21:41 PM UTC by coasterMNguy...***

Euphemistically referring to MF as "the world's fastest kiddie coaster" or "the biggest family ride ever" is not anything new. In fact my (then) 55-year-old father did that immediately after his first ride in the spring of 2000. i think the fairly dumb part would come with taking it too literally/seriously.

MF is a coaster that has size going for it, but that's about it. It's not like that's a ground-breaking opinion either, as it's been around since the thing first opened eight years ago. I certainly respect people for their love of the ride, but there are a lot of people like myself that don't think it's all that.

^^ You're right, there is something to be said for a huge ride that gets the blood pumping. That's why I'm hesitant to consider a ride like this to be a hyper coaster, or mega coaster or whatever you want to call it that makes it sound like S:ROS Jr. It's more like an overgrown Jet star with big hills, or a wood coaster that happens to be made out of steel. I certainly wouldn't compare the experience to that of Nitro, Magnum or Phantom's Revenge because the rides aren't close to being of the same scale.

There are some words that I forget the exact meaning of and this is one of them so I looked it up from within Safari/Tiger.

euphemism |ˈyoōfəˌmizəm|
noun
a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing

I also looked up an alternative definition from my father's "New World Dictionary, College Edition from 1964. 1. the use of a word or phrase that is less expressive or direct but considered less distasteful, less offensive etc. than another.

See, where my head is (and I'm sure others) matt., calling MF the World's biggest kiddie coaster, or the world's biggest family ride (which is not in your original post) was typed just to raise some people's blood pressure so in my opinion it would not be euphemistic.

Is MF my favorite Intamin and would I defend it to the end of time? No, my favorite Intamin would be up in New England since they combined the intensity, relentlessness, and threw in lots of airtime as well.

So are you angry matt. with Cedar Point for spending the money without first consulting you for tips? Does it frustrate you that it's not exactly what you wanted? Listen, I've been on your side of the argument before that MF doesn't have the airtime of even the S:ROS clones.

But as my friend pointed out, that's not what it was built for. It was built for relentless speed from the cable lift to the brakes, and it's extremely successful in that endeavor.

What's the big deal? No one said they hated the ride, just that they felt it was an overgrown kiddie coaster.
^But it doesn't make any sense. If you're going to insult something, at least compare it to something similar. That's all I'm saying.

Sure, plenty of people have called Magnum and some of the Morgans overgrown minetrains. That makes sense to me--especially with Magnum--because it does use the same rolling stock as found on many of their minetrains.

You could call all coasters overgrown switchback railways. ;)

Um, you can't be on my side of the argument because I made no argument, but if you want to get into that, what you just assumed was the exact opposite of how I feel. MF, when it's running at it's best is actually my second favorite steel coaster out there, ahead of SFNE's S:ROS.

Yes, indeed, I'm so angry with Cedar Point!

I'd love to see another "kiddie coaster" that makes people gray out during the first pullout.

This coaster looks amazing! I wouldn't mind a clone or two in the US.

lol matt, I think he is referring to me.

Sorry to upset you, Intamin Fan. You took my comment way too seriously. I am not angry at Cedar Point. I just don't like that ride. So sue me. Simply put, Millennium Force is about as exciting as a good kiddie coaster *for me* (yes, it just does nothing for me after the wonderful first drop and has become increasingly boring to me since it opened).

I am sorry if I "raised your blood pressure."
