June 11th trip to SFWOA

Associated parks:
None

My first road trip with my friends to SFWOA started around 7. I picked up my friends and got onto the PA turnpike from Monroeville. I've had my liscense since the 23rd and my mom actually let me borrow the car for the day. It was fun driving there until all the contruction, I've realized on a weekday morning there are contruction zones and speed limit changes every 5 miles, so my luck with no ticket ended up running out today, 76 in a 65 m/p/h zone. Oh well, it was bound to happen sometime. Anyway atleast that didn't ruin my day at all.The weather for the day said rain all day, but we saw very little rain during the day and only really saw it when we were on the Pa Turnpike as soon as we hit Ohio, the rain was all gone. We got on exit 193 and noticed something on the roads that made me wanna laugh, and orange sign that said mowing ahead lol I'm just curious why anyone would need to know this. We got to the park around 10:30 and what a sight, my 2 friends that had gone with me jaws had just dropped in amazement. It is a cool sight when your entering especially with the new Hurricane Mountain. I'll start off with the coasters.

X-Flight- This ride is definatly a great coaster, the only real wait of the day at 30 min cause of one train operation, and the ride itself I've noticed is kinda shaky, but overall I'd give it a 9.

Superman: Utlimate Escape- My friend Adam thought this was the best ride in the park and his first launched coaster so he really enjoyed it. I thought this was great, but I sorta like the twisting back spike more on WT, although this is definately the 2nd best ride in the park and nothing can beat the twist and best of all had virtually no wait aside from the front seat. The ride fits in such a small area and can only wish Kennywood would get one of these right along the boulevard. I give it a 9 1/2.

Mind Eraser- Its a boommerang, enough said. I give it a 5.

Batman Knight Flight- I love floorless coasters and this coaster is the reason why, although it can't compare to Medusa East, it still packs a major punch all its own, with its setting almost completly over the lake and I really like the batman music, it always gets you pumped up for the ride. Front seat a must and again no wait, it wasn't dead but it seemed like everyone was riding X-flight and not much else. I give this ride a 10 for the day as the best ride in the park.

Serial Thriller- Its hurts and its no fun, I could have only wished they would have built a batman the ride clone if they wanted and invert.
I give it a 4.

Big Dipper- The best wooden coaster in the park and almost standing airtime and its not rough at all. I give it a 7.

Villian- Didn't like it on my last visit in 2001 during Fright Fest and still don't like it, its ok, but too rough, I know a wooden coaster is supposed to be a little rough but this is ridiculous, I think if anyride gets retracked it should be this one. I give it a 5 1/2.

Raging Wolf Bobs- I'm glad they retracked the 2nd half of this ride, now all they need to do is the 1st half cause the 1st half is rough and no fun and the 2nd half is crazy and alot of fun. I give it a 6 1/2.

At around 12 we went over to Hurricane Harbor since it was starting to rain and figured if we're going to get wet might as well enjoy ourselves while doing it. We went over to Shark Attack first. I loved these slides. The green one makes you feel like a pinball but zigzaging. The blue one litterally spins you all the way and I landed in the splash pool backwards. The dark enclosed one was just plain fun. We then went over to Hurricane Mountain, the tube portion. The pink slide is the best one, the double dip gives you airtime on the 2nd bump the most fun on a slide. The Orange one was also good with a huge drop, the other 2 were ok, not bad. The body slide portion had the green one closed so I only rode the purple one. I didn't like it that much cause it felt like the back of my foot was hitting a speed bump every sec, and you can't see where your going totally pitch black. We also heard from an employee working up there that HM wasn't supposed to open for another 2 weeks, but opened early for some reason. Anyway there were 2 great additions and thank good cause Stingray and Neptune and also Hook's Lagoon was closed. Hook was getting a new filter put in and wil be open in 2 weeks and since Neptune empties into the lagoon, it was closed as well. Not sure why Stingay was closed since no one there could give us a reason. I wish they were, oh well next time. At around 5 we headed over to the Wildlife side. We actually had alot of fun over here, the batman show was cool as heck especially since I didn't think it would be open till the 15th. I loved seeing the batboat and the explosions you could fell the heat. We also went on Mission bermuda trianagle which wasn't bad at all. We then went over and got our picture taken by the batmobile and after looking at the photos, the best photo of me all day. Then we saw the penguins, my friend wanted to get one as a pet lol I guess the advantage would be you'd always have the best dressed pet in the neighbor lol. We then saw the tigers and sea lions. For the last attraction we saw Shouka, I really enjoyed this show and hope they can get the 2nd whale for next year. The Wild Life side was alot of fun, all it needs is a major thrill ride and people would litteraly flock to get over there, one complaint I had from one of my friends was that there was nothing over there but shows, true but I figured since we're here might as well atlwast check it out. After that we left around 7:45 and managed to get home around 11:15 after dropping off my friends. This was the best time I've ever had and made me forget all about the ticket, although it tought me that its not easy driving that far with no cruise control on your car. Although I did prove to them and there parents, that I wasn't as bad a driver they had worried about. So over the day was a BIG 10.

The mowing ahead signs are quite common and just there so that you are aware and concious of the fact that there are men working.

I have to disagree with you on the villan and RWB. I loved the Villan, rode it over and over and thought it was a great overall ride (I don't even remember it being that rough). RWB - HATED IT...... my first time riding it last month, maybe my last (just kidding about that). However, it was extremely rough to me, as a matter of fact I would say unbareably so.

One thing to note though was that RWB trains were empty when I rode them and Villan had a small line so all seats were occupied. This could have made a significant difference in the roughness of the ride.

Overall a nice TR and I am glad you enjoyed SFWOA, I think that is a great park and a great overall value personally.

Oh and by the way, watch that speed young man! LOL

well I did remember seeing an op in white walking right in front of the screen and left us all wondering like what, is the ride going to start or what, not sure if it was you or not, we were on it at around 5:30

Should the villian really be considered a wooden coaster. It is all made of steel except for the track!
Yes, because it's the track that gives the ride. The same reason Gemini and other mine trains are NOT wooden coasters...

Nah, that probably wasn't me, come to think about it, I was outside at that time at the Starfish.
