Joyland targeting an April opening

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Joyland will definitely reopen, the pair of investors who promise to renovate the park said Tuesday. They have hired local crews to start the cleaning and painting of the amusement park. Michael Moodenbaugh of Tacoma, Wash., and his partner, Robert Barnard of Tampa, Fla., still expect to open the park by April 16, although crews will have to work double shifts, they said. Moodenbaugh and Barnard say they will spend between $3 million and $5 million rehabilitating the park, mostly this year. Moodenbaugh said they hope the park will draw 350,000 to 450,000 people this year. About 350,000 visitors will allow the pair to break even.
