Actually, now that I look at it, there really isn't any dirt showing at all. What you are seeing is the straw, which has been moved around a bit from dragging the hose about. It's very lush for having not kept up with it.
We really haven't watered it like we were supposed to, and we've skipped it a couple of times. It has pretty much done its thing on its own.
