Its time to lay the facts down about SF.

For the last few months there has been alot of topics that go straight to SF bashing. Personally I am getting sick of it. Alot of the posts made by people that bash SF have only been to a few SF parks or worse yet, havent been to any. If you like CP , thats great, I havent been there personally but I know its a great park. I am not going to make an opinion of any of the CF parks and I am especially not going to say SFGAm is the best thing since sliced bread.

Here comes the kicker!!!! How come I can say SFGAm is a great park and not bash CF parks? Why you ask? Its because I will not degrade myself to the level of saying that a certain park is a waste of time. Whether it be SF, CF, Paramount, Busch, or any other privately owned parks, there is always something good that comes out of them regardless of opinions. Either we start respecting eachothers views of different parks or we wont be able to co-exist in this community.

I think people who had to suffer through SFOs virgin season have a right to judge the park and some of the crazy things that happened there. However, I have seen some people continue to bash the park over and over and over, even though it's closed! Give it a rest why don't you. I can understand reporting a bad incident, or bad service at a park, but drop it, we don't want to keep hearing it every time a SF topic is opened. if you hate it that bad, don't go, but all the SF bashing after awhile makes my ears bleed, it's just noise.

I live in between SFDL and SFO 1 and 1/2 hour each way so i went to both park's about 15 times each and did not have a problem anytime, in fact i loved it and will certainly make the trips again. This year I will make trips to SFGAm just from the coments from chitown how good the park is. I hope maybe we can do six flag's over beer this year.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my several visits to SFO this past summer and never had any problems (except for a Fright Fest Saturday where the park had more people than it could handle - quite nasty).

SFGAm was just awesome - that's all I have to say about that park.

SFDL - went there for the first time this summer and found it to be a pleasant surprise. A little spread out in some areas (like getting to Twister and Boomerang), but the park was very nice. The park's strongest part is in its variety of flat rides. Haven't been to a park in a while that had so many of them. I wasn't crazy about S:ROS, but Predator and Viper were, IMO, very good for what thrills they deliver. And their Batman Stunt Spectacular was very well done.

Now this summer I am hitting Magic Mountain,Marine World, and Great America (again) and hope to continue enjoying what Six Flags has given the coaster world so far.

Sometimes you have to wonder if the "SF Haters" actually go a SF park and look for all the bad things.

First off, I don't see any universal "bashing" (I hate that word) of Six Flags. There's a difference between senseless ranting ("that park sucks") and constructive criticism ("that park has problems because"). Overall, most members have been fair acknowledging the difference between say, SFO and SFGAm.

The second thing you can't generalize is that because someone criticizes one park they're "biased" (another often misused word) toward other parks, especially Cedar Point. I don't particularly like one party's politics, but that doesn't make me a card carrying member of the other party either.

This is not a religion, cult, war or school spirit.

You like Six Flags parks. Fine. I've been to quite a few, and I don't. I find them wanting, when compared to the Cedar Points, Kennywoods, Busch Gardens, etc of the world.

Have I been to every single Six Flags park in the whole wide world? No. And I don't make criticisms about specific parks that I haven't been to. I won't say a word about Magic Mountain; but I would be happy to tell you why I found the St Louis park, or Great America, to be wanting. And I would be happy to discuss why I think some of the policies Six Flags pursues at the corporate level are policies I have a low opinion of.

You seem to be saying that we need to respect each others opinions of different parks, so long as we all agree with you.

Chitown,
Actually, I get an excellent impression of SFGAm from members on this site. In fact, this site was what convinced me to head to Chicago this summer instead of Pennsylvania (and that trip even has the lure of Talon!).

I think people have a lot of good points when they criticize Six Flags. My biggest concern is that if they don't calm down their big spending soon, I may not be able to enjoy their several excellent coasters in a few years because several parks MAY be shut down due to bankruptcy. Don't you think it's sort of economically irresponsible for a company millions of dollars in debt to be spending as much money as Six Flags is for this summer?

I believe that SF has just release some stocks for the general public to buy. If that is the case that is how they will be paying for the new rides. Plus they can pool together the money from so many parks and distribute bigger chunks of money than other parks that are not in some big conglomeration. That definitely helps.
Jeff, just to be clear, I use the word "bashing" for very specific reasons. If I say that CP is an *"overcrowded, overrated mishmash of average coasters", that's my opinion. If I say that EVERY time someone opens a CP topic for the sole purpose of getting another dig in, that's bashing in my mind. You may not like the word, but it's a strong enough word to get people's attention.

*That's not really my opinion of CP, but I'm sure it got your attention. ;)

Jeff, I was referring to the people that just say in general that SF sucks. I didnt mean an individual SF park. Generalizing a company based on lets a couple parks that didnt suit you shouldnt make a person think that all SF parks are a joke. I do agree with you about people separating the parks. I have noticed that recently and that is a good thing.
I've to agree with Chitown on this one. I think you'd be kidding yourself if you think all of the crap thrown at Six Flags is constructive critisism.

I'm not a card holder for either party. My favorite park is Valleyfair! and I've been to Six Flags St. Louis and haven't had anything but good experiences there.

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
I really haven't been upset at any of the six flags i have been to and i do agree with chitown. There is a lot of sixflags critisism rather it be contructive or just ignorant. My whole view on the topic is that sure some parks are better than others but to me it is just about the coasters so as far as i am concearned i feel grateful just to attend all of these places. Sure some things get to me at a park like linejumping and slow operators but it does not effect me in the long run as long as i get to ride.

I don't hate SF or anything, but I have to say that if someone does not like the way one SF park is operated, then they have the right to not like the SF company seeing it was SF's mistake.

The way a lot of you people seem to put it, is that any person that did not like SF's product, should be happy and just try another one of their products. What if it were a car company we were talking about and the car a person bought that was made by that compant was in the shop all of the time, do you think that person should buy another car from that company next time?

Well, you are probably right. This topic has run its course.
