Universal Orlando hosted its first big crowd at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Monday night. Folks attending the Orlando International Pow Wow were invited for a glimpse at the Islands of Adventure attraction, which officially opens June 18.

Im just waiting for the news that Forbidden Journey will not open with the rest of the new land. I seriously doubt they would be this secretive about it so as not to let Travel Agents ride it.
Universal's track record of launching new attractions in a timely manner isn't great. It only took a decade to do the trolley thing in Seuss Landing. :)

Yeah, and as we've seen, THAT was totally worth the wait [/rolls eyes]. The only reason I rode it on my first visit was because it had just opened and my friends I was with hadn't been on it. Fun ride, but not worth 10 years of complaining.
Rumor of a soft opening in the next few days is (was) strong... New ride system in Orlando not running already does not bode well for them.
If it really did have one of the ride vehicles go nuts and bust a wall, I have a strong inclination they will run up against their scheduled public premiere date. Probably won't be able to truly verify that little bit that I've been hearing, but certain things considered...I'm inclined to think there's some truth there.

There are so many ways for an electronic, computer controlled ride vehicle to go nuts. You'd think that they would design clearance for the ride vehicle in all directions.

I heard Toyota designed the vehicles. ;)
The previews with the cast were all over the Orlando news tonight. Even got a little peek at the ride "vehicle".... ;)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Test Track was rumored to be delayed due to a car busting through a wall. I'm willing to bet that it's just an urban legend that's moved onto the newest ride in the area.
We could look it up on Snopes. lol
POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILER AHEAD:
I've heard some very interesting things about the new ride; about an interaction with the Dementors at the end of the ride. If they are true, it's going to be incredible.

I'm not putting a lot of faith in the robot arm going nuts because of who I heard it from, but I also know this kind of crazy stuff actually does happen with advanced and new ride systems, on a comparatively regular basis.

I posted this in the other thread, but I imagine they're doing soft openings of the other attractions and shops on the 18th because that's when WDW's Summer Nightastic starts and they want to dent that, and have the media talking about them instead.
From their Facebook page,
Hi, Facebookers. As planned, we are accommodating package holders and on-site hotel guests with a Wizarding World of Harry Potter experience as of today, May 28. This is a controlled experience for these guests only. We look forward to welcoming guests for our grand opening on June 18.
Wonder what a controlled experience is. Happy I get to see it next week.
