My friend who is part of ACE just told me that X won't open until next year. Is this a rumor or is it true?

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
Despite what some people claim to have been told from "guest relations", there is no official opening date for X. It could be July, it could be a year from July. Who knows? It's way to soon to tell.
Latest photos show no vertical construction, but a lot of footers poured. Check SFMM Y2K central, the have good stuff.

People are thinking this because of what happend with Stealth. The deffrience is Arrow has allready tested the cars on a sample track in their wearhouse. ALL of Stealth's testing and changes were made on site hence why it took so long. I don't see what could delay X for a year.

Cheeze, you are right that they tested the trains. While I'm not predicting doom, it is possible that problems could arise at 80mph and 200+ ft, compared to the tiny little test track inside that warehouse.

Actually just to let everyone know, X at SFMM has been cancelled! Parts are being shipped back to the Arrow plant as we speak. SFMM is VERY unhappy with Arrow and the fact that the coaster will not be ready until 2006. At that time, the ride will be built at CP instead, according to a CF rep. CP will tear down MF to build a 400ft version of the coaster. Details are forthcoming.
John(Who probably has guarenteed the removal of this thread, sorry) ;)
I dought its true, but you do have a point because Why is it taking so long???? No Vertical Construction has started and I find this puzzling because some track pieces are on sight. Also I dont know why, but I think This ride wont open until Late July/Early August now.
Basiclly, It takes a good 2 months to build a big Coaster like this, Then there will be the usual few weeks of testing and I reckon this will take longer than normal because of the new technology involved, and they will want everything to be right before opening day(whenever it is) Then there is themeing to do(If any of course) and Queue Lines to be built etc.
Well, We will soon see I suppose. But I wouldnt worry, I am sure it will open this year, just maybe a little bit later than first predicted.
This just goes to show you not to rush out and purchase THREE coasters in one year!
It cannot be done in time.
Poor Magic Mountain... won't be able to quite capture the title of 'Coaster Capital of the World' quite yet.
You make it an X-Treme Park... and stick X under 'What's New for 2001' on you web page... then stick to your original plan!! Hire a few more builders and get it going, already!!!
I'm pretty sure everyone (even Cedar Point die-hards who hate Magic Mountain) want X to be up & running to see how the 4th Dimension coaster from Arrow will be like!!
So 3 coasters in one year cannot be done huh? Well look at SFWOA they got four and only the kids coaster wasnt operating opening day.
To be fair Villain Dude, none of SFWOA's 4 new coasters were anything new. SFMM is dealing with 2 new kinds of coasters, one REALLY like nothing ever done before.

Man you are so full of it. Where did you hear this from, because whoever said it was either drunk or really hated SFMM.

What is life with out coasters, geniuses, and/or SFA
Coastergenius, that comment by DWeaver was intended as ironic humor, or sarcasm.
If you want the REAL scoop, just ask the folks at guest relations. [Dr. Evil voice] Riiiiight!

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
When i went to SFMM 2 weeks ago i was told by one of the employees that X would not be open until sometime around September, i doubt that they would just cancel the ride though
They're NOT going to cancel the ride...
It was a joke, sarcasm, humor...
That thought shouldn't even come CLOSE to crossing the mind that DWeaver was even remotely serious!!!
They have the footers placed down already... but they are not going to rush this coaster and do a sloppy job of it. They finished the easy coasters first (Goliath Jr. & Deja vu)... Reason? Deja Vu is a clone now, so that was easy enough... but X is totally new, and completely different.
That may not be the reason for the delay as much as working on one coaster, then the next, and then the last... but give it time!
I'm sorry, I also forgot to include, he said that he found out because of an ACE news letter.
I really get tired of people talking about the Lemon Chill guy and all that. If you think the thread should be closed, become a moderator and close it. The question I asked wasn't "Hey, if I make a thead about X not opening do you think it should be closed?"
And also, I never said it wasn't going to open period, I just heard it was going to be post poned till next year. Has anyone else gotten this publication?

Jephry, I am sorry to say that your posts are for the most part one track minded. You constantly bash other parks and promote CP. To me you are in tunnel vision. If you think CP is great, fine, I really dont care. Do me a big favor and think before you act. Your topics dont accomplish anything and they just continue to promote the same thing over and over and over again. I have kept my cool on you but you finally pushed my buttons. Either start doing subjects that appeal to others or dont do anything at all.

"SAVING THE WORLD BEFORE BEDTIME" Powerpuff girls
That's where my sarcasm came in Chitown. I also get tired of all the subtle bashing and mocking of everything not CP related, so I thought i'd take it to the extreme to show people how ridiculous all this can be. X will open when it opens, period. None of us have any "inside" information, so why bring it up unless were talking about "wishful thinking". It's no secret that a few people don't want to see the coaster succeed only because it's at SFMM. That's when I think you have crossed over from enthusiast, into something far more dysfunctional. Ok, I'm done ;)
-------------
"You are the weakest link...goodbye".
I don't get why people would feel that way. I'm as hardcore CP as they come, but I don't want SFMM to fail. It's not like they are in competition! I want X to open so I can ride it next time I'm in LA!
