Is Vortex @ PCW as fun as Top Gun @ PKI?

I saw some pics of Vortex and it's the only suspended coaster I haven't rode in the midwest.
I actually like the PCW Vortex quite a bit more than Top Gun based on it's nice positioning over the water and around Wonder Mountain (the centrepiece of the park)

It's certainly one of the more intense swingers around and it's located in a very nice park with some excellent (and rare) flats like my coveted Mondial Top Scan :-)

Given the exchange rate over the past few years making a trip to PCW (or any Canadian park for that matter) is pretty affordable. I know that the rate is playing heavily into my decision to hit Vancouver Playland this year.

I too preferred Vortex.  As a matter of fact I think its my favorite suspended.  It seemed the fastest to me, mayhaps the layout and scenery has something to do with it.
Doesn't Top Gun and Vortex have the same layout?

Yes, but the Vortex has shorter trains and a better location.  The overall height and lenght might be a little smaller too.

Believe it or not, Top Gun has a tighter layout and the drop on Vortex is just a few feet longer.

I give the nod to Vortex, simply because of placement and scenery.  Wonderland is an immaculate and beautiful park.  Vortex fits it's spot and it's surroundings very well.  It is fun and the drop off the mountain is terrific.

I think we need to clarify as theer are Two PCW Canada's Wonderland, and Carowinds.

Took me forever to figure out what the heck was going on as Vortex is a standup at Carowinds. LOL

Kinda like SFGA ya know?

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Typically PCW is used to signify Wonderland.  PCoW is what I have always seen and used for Carowinds.

Actually, what I've seen is PCW for Wonderland and just PC for Carowinds. Personally, I call wonderland PCW and Carowinds, well Carowinds.

And MagForce, dont be mad at Paramount, they didnt name the parks, they just bought them and kept the names.

I think the speed on vortex is is intense and top gun is great because they put SOB close by it so it looks like its going to hit the track all its high speeds.
Does Vortex swing you from side to side once you hit the breakrun as delightfully violently as Top Gun does? That is the best part!

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!

More so!

Because of the very minor difference in the two, Vortex is just a tad bit more intense.  I can't really describe it other than just by saying it just seems more intense.

The final stop in the Vortex brake run causes the entire structure to violently shake and rattle.  It's a true indication of it's speed and strength when it reaches the end of it's course.

Hooray, I found a post where I agree with 95% of the responses!  It was bound to happen sooner or later. :)

Anyhoo, my two cents on the topic -- Vortex at PCW owns over Top Gun.  I actually like Top Gun quite a bit, but Vortex is NON-STOP intensity, and the location...cannot be beat (*love* that helix over the water).

And yeah, Nick, Vortex sways so damn much, the entire brake run moves like a foot in each direction for a minute it seems!

See, all Arrow's do *not* suck!

Just another example as to why they should bring back Suspended Coasters.. Vortex is an awesome (albeit short) ride.

Suspended Hyper anyone?
