Ride op said that ATI werent good at all. He said that any GeForce 2 or higher would work.

Theres already a topic for this anyways

Ok, thanks. I was hoping to find at least a card that had a tv out so  I could pipe my DVD to my 52 " too, but oh well.  I already have my computer sound going to my surround sound system.

Some GeForce's have TV-out.

My GeForce 3 has a TV-out.

You should be able to find a GF2 with TV-out.

Man, I need to get a VCR and record my virtual rides! :)

That is a pretty good card, but...

In a Best Buy ad we got today, it had listed a GeForce 3 card for 99 bucks after mail in rebate. Tommorow morning me and my dad are going out there to pick one up, along with a 50 buck 60 gig hard drive. If you got time, and a local Best Buy, check out to see if they are running the same deal. It's the best value on computer hardware I've ever seen.

I just noticed that graphics card is an AGP. Will it work in a PCI slot?

Aw man.. bummer.. I have PCI slots.

AGP is a much faster interface than PCI.  An AGP card will not work in a PCI slot.

The best low-cost graphics card is the GeForce2 MX400 with 64MB.

Another really good deal is the GeForce3 Ti200.  It offers the speed of the GeForce2 Ultra at an affordable price.

All of these cards will work very well with No Limits.  I have a GeForce2 GTS 64MB and run No Limits at 70fps at 1024x768x32xHigh Quality. =]

How do I find out if my computer has PCI slots or AGP?
Jeff's avatar
If your video card is in a slot that doesn't look like any of the others, that's an AGP card.

The problem with the original post might be the processor. The whole nVidia line of chips tends to scale with processor power, and I don't know that a P2 is going to help push polys in a big way.

Time to upgrade entirely, I think.

Well, the demo of the game worked fine on my machine, and the full game is running terrible.

What about the new demo that was released the same day as the full version?  Is that working for you?

Also, I think Jeff is right - P2's are obselete.  If you have the dough, I'd get a whole new system based on an Ahtlon XP 1600+ and an Epox 8KHA+ motherboard.  Incredible performance at an affordable price.

So was anyone lucky enough to get one of these? I was at my Best Buy at 6:45, and by the time I got in the door they were GONE.

Best Buy actually pulled a nice bait-n-switch this morning. The GeForce3 Ti-200 cards were indeed $99 after 2 rebates ($50 "instant", $50 mail-in). However, those cards were gone in an instant. *BUT*, they also had plenty of GeForce2 cards, same manufacturer, nearly identical box, for $99. If a consumer wasn't paying attention and just grabbed the box, they got themselves a decent video card at NORMAL price, not an insane deal. (And believe me, I went through all the GeForce2 boxes hoping one of them was a GeForce3 stuck in the wrong spot, but no such luck...)

Me and my dad didn't even bother getting out of the truck. Too much of a line outside the door already at 6:30 (I told him to go earlier, but he didn't think it would be that bad, what a moron!) The line was worse than V2's in July!

Instead, we got it off the website. 150 bucks, because one of the rebates isn't aplicable, but still a steal.

I went and got both of those, the hard drive and the video card, I got there and the line was outrageous, but as luck would have it my friend was at Best buy and saw me and told me to come and stand in line with him. there must have been 400 500 people in that line! Got the last of each item, was 20th in the door. Heck, this should have been a trip report..lol.

Well, I laid down some Bucks yesterday at my computer store and got an upgrade and this started out as just wanting to get a video card to play No Limits. Here is what I got, AMD ATH XP 160c CPUAMD XP 1600+, Socket A Motherboard 2 Dimm 2DDR Onboard sound/ Lan Athlon XP Vid64 MB w/TV out AGP 256 Bit . And guess what, I'm getting over 80 FPS rate, consistantly. I didn't realize mother boards and CPU's are so cheap.
