Is there a way to fool NL into making an impulse?

I really want to make an impulse but can't seem to figure out 2 things.

1. riding a track that isn't a complete circuit

2. making a launch reverse.

Has anybody played with the software that much. I don't know if anybody tweaks (or insert word hacks here) software here, but it would be cool.

I haven't been able to do it. Incomplete-launched coasters are hard enough to make.
There is no way to ride a track that is not a complete circuit or create a reverse launch.

However, you can create the illusion of an impulse by doubling the track back on itself to create a full circuit. Then simply ride by toggling f12 to enable/disable the LIMs (or else it will not allow you to travel backwards).

There's a handy tool that automatically retraces your incomplete track to make a full circuit available at Tia's NoLimits Tools

Hopefully the 1.3 version will be worth the wait... and among other things, it will finally have impulse/boomerang compatibality where you can create forward/reverse rides that are not a complete circuit, as well as the wooden coasters...

...but man, it's been over a whole month, and not a single update. I wish he'd keep his site up-to-date and let us know some progress... it gets a little annoying that the best coaster building simulator is still missing a few key elements such as the riding of incomplete circuit coasters & wooden coasters (ie: true wooden, not Tia's wooden).

One of Tia's tools (the power tweaker) also will let you change settings of track. I don't know for sure if it can, because I havn't tried it, but you probably could set negative speeds on wheels or LIMs, including the ones in the station. I know it does let you put settings in that are not allowed in the editor (example, I have an emergency brake on a launched coaster that is behind the station... and it has a deceleration force of 50 Gs.)
