Is the feel of a floorless coaster the same feel as the inverted coasters ?
only no shade over you during the ride .
No, it feels like a sitdown looper with no floor.

There are currently 11 coasters with the name Batman, 8 with the name Superman and 22 with the name Boomerang. Batman and Superman: The Ultimate Chiller Knight Flight Krypton Escape Ride.
That's about how BKF felt to me. The only new sensation, other than not having a floor below you, is the footchopper effect. I often pulled my feet up, making sure they didn't hit the track. ;)

Yep...the front seat is about the only place you get the effect...but all the seats are pretty free looking which gives a new feeling.

Floorless is a useless gimmick which adds nothing to the ride.
If they really want to come up with a new ride sensation, then they should eliminate that complicated floor-comb system and switch to a conventional station design, then scrap the floorless train and replace it with a Speedcoaster (i.e. Apollo's Chariot/Raging Bull/Nitro) train.

Who suggested as much to a B&M employee at IAAPA, but doesn't think said employee realizes he was serious...
Did that guy even speak English? :)
I agree with Dave. The sensation is lost away from the front seat. I'd love to see speed coaster trains on a B&M looper. Think Flight of Fear sans a building but with that B&M magic.

Actually You get the feet chopper effect in the second and third rows, when u go up the lift the the row in front and the rises like on BKF. And Floorless coasters are nothing like strandard loopers man. I mean wow they are soo so smooth, and just wow.

Rode BKF last Friday and didn't even notice the fact that there wasn't a floor there, however we weren't in the front seat. But by holy God was that thing smooth!!

Thank you for riding America's Roller Coast
The Zero-G-Roll on Kraken is one of the best.
Speed coasters don't have loops or zero-g-rolls, so the floorless design will continue. Speed coasters have those huge banked turns, but I like the zero-g-roll and loops better.
But to answer the question, the ride of a floorless vs. inverted is different. The inverted hangs, whereas the floorless has the track under it. You can feel the differance in the ride elements. The inverted sort of whips you thru the loops and rolls.
I like the inverted the best. The track is above, and you can see everything. Whereas, on the floorless, you still see the track. There is something between you and the ground. I like to hang.
I wish they would build more inverted coasters like DD, Raptor, Alphie. With more negative G hills like on DD (Fire), a final helix like Raptor, and the big drop of Alphie. I want a super inverted.
A related question: how many floorless coasters are there now? I'm probably going to Sea World Orlando next month for my first floorless (Kraken) - I'll definately take the advice and wait for the front for that first ride, but I was curious about how many others are out there.

There are 5... Kraken (SWF), Medusa East (SFGAdv) and West(SFMW), Batman Knight Flight(SFWoA), and Superman Krypton Coaster. (SFFT)
The best way to enjoy a floorless is to just think of it as a standard sitdown looper, that just happens to have no floor. Don't try to make it up to be some magical experience. They are (in my book) just really good loopers, like Kumba or Wildfire, smooth and fun.

Medusa0East (the 'original' floorless) is @ SFGAdventure not Great America. SFGAm needs no such gimmicks...hehehehe

Dayuum, Your HOT!
Does the coaster seem any faster?
It's a BKF clone ( i think) and it's at Warner Brothers Movie World Madrid or Spain (?). So whnever that park opens (2002-2003) There will be 6.

I really don't get much of a floorless sensation. I just think you are sitting too close to the track. The seats needs to be higher to feel this concept. However, have you ever seen Seizmic's version (SP?)?...where you sit to the side of the track (no track below or above you). Now that is a true floorless and I can't believe there are none around. It's similar to "X", only you don't spin. I hope to see some of these in the future.

It does give you a floating sensation since you do not have anything to brace your feet against. It is a nice ride, there is absolutely no knee banging like a traditional coaster.
I agree with Soggy. I really didn't find an experience difference between any of the floorless and Wildfire. In fact, the seats on the new B&M sitdowns are high enough so you're feet don't touch the floor anyway. The only real difference I can see is the front seat visuals due to the zero-car on the sitdowns vs. no zero-car on the floorless. Based on the floorless coasters I've been on (BKF, M-E, M-W) vs. the only sitdown I've been on (Wildfire), I'll take the sitdown.

The whole time on B:KF it feels alot like you are just floating, not in a seat at all. You do only get the *true* floor-less affect in the front seat but I look at it as getting a B&M sitdown, with a little added touch.
I also hate when people say...
"It's just a gimmick!" This is true, but who cares, if you could come up with a gimmick that would be successful, wouldn't you? They are just trying to make a living too, so don't bash them for that! ;)

I think that floorless coasters are awesome! Now granted, the only one I have ever rode was BKF, but it is really cool up in the front. I would suggest that is where you should sit if you ever ride a floorless.
