Is RCT2 worth buying?

I'm thinking of asking for RCT2 for X-mas but I was wondering. Were most of you disappointed or did you think it was a whole lot better than the orignal? I mean, is it really that much greater or has it changed just a little bit? Just tell me if it dissappointed you and why. Thanks.

Anyone care for some roast beef?

Well I'm very VERY happy with RCT2...it has everything everyone wanted except alot more flat rides, if you liked RCT then you'll love RCT2!

In all honesty, Roast Beef... it's not that much greater than RCT1... in fact, if you put the two together, you couldn't tell them apart from one another except the addition of some coasters & extra themes... there are some nit-pick changes, but the truth is... it's not that much different at all.

If you can find it for $20 & under, you're ok, because that's all its worth considering it's more of an expansion pack than an all-new game... but it's not worth it paying full price, since it's like playing the game all-over again, and there aren't that many senarios to work with (nor any to unlock). You have to depend on making your own or downloading some from other users!

I can see this turning into ANOTHER war on whether RCT2 is good or bad. The truth is you're going to get about a 50/50 response. First of all, I haven't heard of anybody who's played RCT2, bashed it, and have gone back to playing RCT1. Everyone has their griefs about it, but it's still an RCT1 enhancement and a sequal that moved in a forward direction (just not very far).

Also, the game has now been out for over a month, and there are several threads in this forum, as well as others, with people posting their 2 cents about the game. Read those and see if RCT2 is worthy of $30.

My suggestion is just buy the game and play it. RCT2 has everything RCT1 has with several additions. The only reason the game rates poorly among several people is because the number of additions were scarce against expectations. The best additions worth the money are all of the new coaster types and scenery. I feel I've gotten my $30 worth just playing with the new coaster types and building stations for them with the new scenery options.

If that's not enough enhancement for you right now, then wait for the expansion pack. By then, RCT2 will be cheaper or they will have bundled it with the new expansion.

And don't forget that one of the main reasons for not including an incredible amount of levels is to inspire you to make your own, and trade them with other people.

Sawyer also released a new level and some funny panda theming on the main site.

I'm glad I purchased it.

Vekoma!

Is there a brain in your head.
Why wouldn't RCT2 be worth buying?
Everything that was in RCT 1 is still there except for the hill making thing. You've certantly seen the screenshots. 4D, Impulses, Intamin Gigas, cable lifts, blocking, and adjustable lift hill speeds.
Of course RCT2 is worth buying.

Definately. This is definately not just another expansion pack. Everything is a lot easier to build, and easier to see. You can build with walls and roofs, and there are a lot more height views, which make it a lot easier. You may be disappointed with the lack of scenarios and maybe (as some say) lack of new coaster designs. But if the old RCT was changed too much, then people would complain about that. Also, you can build your own park and edit it any way you want with the new scenario editor. There's a lot more scenery too, like waterfalls, different water colors, and pirate ships. I'd say definately ask for it. The only reason some people are disappointed with this game is because of the lack of big changes, which is understandable. Think of this as RCT with much easier building tools, more scenery, and more realism. Plus more scenarios which all are present (you don't have to beat one scenario to access another). And it's only $30!

Eh. RCT2 isn't very satisfying and I had low expectations to begin with. That should say something. There's no *spark* to it like the first one gave to my gameplay attitude. Still a good game though...

Is RCT2 worth buying?

In a word, yes.

RCT2 is worth buying if its under $20.I feel like im playing RCT when im playing RCT2.Sawyer need to add alot more flat rides & add water on that slide thats in the in the water ride section.

Seems the people saying RCT2 isn't worth buying were expecting a 3d on-ride similar to that of No Limits.

Although the loading time is a little longer, get RCT2, you will be impressed.

Buy it!!! I still giggle when the underground view automaticly switches to reguliar view when you build a coaster from underground to outside. I always say out loud,"WOW, I LOVE this game!" when I build a cool station with stackable scenery. It's the same as the first, except better.

Of course it's worth it, unless we don't see any expansion packs in the future.

Please God, help me to spell words correctly, so that I don't get insulted by people who are perfect and wiser than myself. Amen

One word, YES! It has more coasters, and I think I would die w/ out it.
I definitely recommend the game. It's RCT, with tons more scenery, coasters, and attention to detail. This game has lots more potential than the original game. If they have more expansion packs, then this game will have it all!

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

Sure, what have you got to lose? Besides 30 bucks.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

If you still like RCT I, you will probably like RCT II. At least I don't see why you wouldn't. Personally, I feel like I had worn RCT I out, and RCT II was just more of the same.

Have fun.
