Is Morey's pier worth a seven hour drive?

What's people's opinion on Morey's pier. I heard some pretty good thing about it but it seems like many haven't visited it.

I've been there twice, and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is very unique. It's a good break from the same old, theme park scene. The piers have three layers of rides on them. You have to go there to know what I mean. the flume ride is great and travels under the pier. The Nor'Easter is tangled with water slides and other attractions. Of course, the Great White is awsome too. It was my first CCI. If you want a great old fashioned amusement boardwalk with modern attractions, Morey's Piers is the place! I highly recommend it. (and no, my last name isn't Morey)

I just visited Morey's Piers for the first time last week. It is definitely not worth a seven hour drive in my opinion, but it is definitely worth going to if you are in the area. The Great Nor'Easter is a relatively smooth Vekoma SLC with AWESOME foot choppers around every corner. It is the only Vekoma SLC that is worth riding and is a very good one at that because of the foot choppers (careful though, the ride ops are major staplers). There are a four small steel coasters that are fun to ride (except RC84 or whatever it is called, pure pain) with some of them being classics. There is a typical Vekoma boomerang (stalled in the boomerang when I visited, so I never got to ride it). Then there is the Great White, a CCI wooden coaster with steel supports. It is extremely smooth for a wooden coaster (smoothest roller coaster in the park). The ride has a good first drop, but after that ride ride lacks airtime. I have been on better CCI's, but there are far worse coasters than the Great White at the park. The ride has the great PTC's but airtime is lacking, especially at the end during the rabbit hops. Morey's Piers has great food, though. Tehy take pride in their food and the food is top notch.

yeah i figuared it wasn't worth traveling all the way down there from boston, but i guess i might stop there the next time i visit SFGav.

I beg to differ, Morey's Piers are worth the trip. While coaster-wise they aren't the best, their coasters are a lot of fun. For example, the Great Nor'easter is a really good SLC b/c it is tangled up with waterslides and other rides, its a lot of fun. Also the Sea Serpent is a good boomerang, not too rough, and it looks awesome when its lit up at night. Also the Great White is awesome. The first drop is amazing as well as the swooping turns. Also this ride is literally on the beach. I rode this coaster 10 times in a row one time and never got tired of it Aside from those three major coasters Morey's has tons of great flat rides, one of the best log flumes ever (their are two big steep drops), and some really fun dark rides. It really does have an awesome mix of old and new. Also Morey's has 2 awesome waterparks (it may be 3 now). Also aside from Morey's piers their are other piers. Dinosaur Beach Pier has a Turbo Force/Skyscrapper and right by Morey's pier is Dracula's Castle, one of the best spook houses anywhere. You can walk through, or take the Dungeon Boat ride. Both contain live actors. Aside from all of the thrill rides, Wildwood has an awesome beach, which is huge, and I mean huge. Also the food is great and games on the board walk are a lot of fun. You could easily spend a week in wildwood and not run out of fun things todo.

I dind't ride anything when I went! The Great White was closed, and I wasn't paying to ride any of the other contraptions - it's very over priced.

IMO Wildwood is all about atmosphere. My recommendation would be to take the trip to Morey's Piers as a short vacation. Stay a couple nights and soak in the atmosphere, eat the food, walk the boardwalk and even play the games (arcade and carnival). This place comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights. To me Wildwood isn't just about the rides. I love the ocean and I find that just being near it (yes I mean "near it", if you've been there you'll understand) helps me to relax. If that's not you're thing, then you could combine it with a trip to SFGAdv. If the "atmosphere" isn't you're thing, you probably won't be very impressed by it.

I'm actually leaving Friday morning for Wildwood and coming home on Monday. It's usually a 6 hour drive for me because of the tolls on the GSP and the traffic. This will be my 5th trip to Wildwood. If we (my boyfriend and I) get bored we will probably take a small trip to Atlantic City or SFGAdv, but I don't see that happening. We've already been to SFGAdv this year and we're leaving for Vegas on the 31st.
