Iron Wolf bashing

I've noticed that Iron Wolf is not liked at all at this messageboard. A lot of people think it's the worst B&M. I think it's one of the best standups around! It has all that intensity, a great drop and is such a cool experience! Yeah it is a little rough but geez, it's not that bad! You might bang your head only three times probably. I liked Iron Wolf a whole lot better than Vortex at PC. So why are all you people bashing on Iron Wolf? Just give me some good reasons.

I agree! Iron Wolf is a gem, and it was made by B&M (ryhmes!) It is seriously a great coaster, and it's not even all that rough, they added padding, and it is smooth, and even if it wasn't smooth, What would you expect? It's 11 years old, coasters tend to age too, besides, it's B&M's first coaster, all the more reason to go on it.

Opinion opinion opinion

Thats really all you are giving and other people have a right to theirs. You may say it is a good coaster but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same. Obviously it can't be too good or people would not be taking about it so much. Yeah, its B&M's first coaster, but that doesn't mean its a good ride. Also just because its 11 doesn't always justify its state. All coasters over 10 are not bad

"Obviously" it must not be that bad because these guys think so. Makes just as much sense right?

Just because someone states an opinion doesn't make a coaster "obviously" good or bad. You'll have to ride it before saying anything of substance here.

I've never been on it so I can't say, but I'll bet it has some redeeming qualities. In fact, I've never met a coaster I didn't like. Kiddie or otherwise. ;)

Forget about it. It can't be THAT bad!
I used to bash it all the time, but now I hear it's a whole lot better, especially if you use Jeff's way of standing. I'll remain neutral until I ride it again this year.

I think that fact that SFGAmSupaCrazy and RagingBullGuy's home park is SFGAm probably has something to do with their liking of Iron Wolf.

Does anybody ever bash their home park's coasters unless it's SFKK or SFEG?

Haven't been on Iron Wolf, but I've been on Vortex and it was the worst standup I've been on after those nasty TOGO torture chambers!

Iron Wolf sucks. I don't know many people who enjoy throbbing headaches. But if you really like iron wolf, you must. I just got back from Cali today, and Riddler made iron wolf look like a joke. It was the first B&M ever, so we can give them a break. I like parts of it but when i get off i wonder why i even got on.

If you dislike Iron Wolf, so be it. I personally like Iron Wolf, but it just can't compare to Mantis, and from what I've heard, Riddler's Revenge.

I actually like Iron Wolf about as much as I like Mantis. It has a few crazy drops, some great turns, and c'mon, the headbanging isn't THAT bad. I like Mantis a little better just because it's longer and has more elements. Definitely a great historical ride, being that it's the original B&M.

Great America is now my home park temporarily and I would not be afraid to "bash" it, but that is not what this website is about. Yes its a coaster, but don't blink or you'll miss the whole ride. My opinion is its a spin and puke thats over in less than 20 seconds (after the short drop). :) More power to you if you like it just not something you will not catch me on more than once a trip.

SFGAM is indeed my home park, but that has nothing to do with it. IMO it is a great, fast paced ride, Sure it is short, and yes it is a little rough, but so are a lot of great coasters, i respect everyone's opinion, i just stated mine.

Grant, liking a coaster at your home park means nothing. I like Iron Wolf, and it in no way relates to it being at my home park. Many people dislike Shockwave, and that is at my homepark. I also dislike it. With your reasoning, I guess I should like Shockwave, but I don't. The best thing about Shockwave is the way it looks while on the highway...

Back to Iron Wolf, I love it. Not my favorite, but I don't hate it or even dislike it a little. If you don't like it because it's "too rough" good, stay out of line, make it shorter for me. So what if you hit your head once or twice, that gives a coaster character. Coasters are meant to beat you up a little bit (which is why Raging Bull is not my favorite coaster, it's way too smooth!)
It gives a great ride, and is one that proves you don't need inversion after inversion to be a great ride. I'm sure both Vortexes and Georgia Scorcher are also great rides, because they are the same, hills, turns, and only a vertical loop and corkscrew. I wish B&M would make more rides like that.

Yes, I do. I bash Shockwave and Demon a lot, just ask my friends. Last time I checked, they were at my home park.

I agree, i beleive no matter how painful a coaster may be, there are great things about every coaster. There are great turns and g's on IW, but i always leaave with a headache. let people have thier opinions, i do like it and i like to ride IW but if there is a long line i wouldn't ever wait for it. IMO

Can you explain Jeff's way of standing?
I can't really hate on it, because I rode it when it first debuted. It was a killer ride. None of the bigger B&M standups that I have ridden match that intensity that it has. None of them have the mad airtime coming off that straightaway into the corkscrew. Today it's a shell of it's former self, but it still delivers.

Georgia Scorcher now rests as my number one coaster.

Do corkscrew's count?
Actually, I haven't seen much Iron Wolf bashing lately. In fact, I've seen quite a few people say it is better this year than last year. I totally agree. I rode it this year and it was so wild I felt like I would be thrown from the train. It reminded me of when I first rode it and it was my favorite looper at SFGAm.
Jeff's way of standing is to keep your feet all the way back and lean forward into the harness. Trust me...I tried it and it works great!

Iron Wolf is a coaster you have to be forewarned about. Using Jeffs method and knowing up front that it has extreme transitions is the key to enjoying this standup.

Who's talking smack about Iron Wolf? le me at em!
This is a great coaster. It was my first B&M before I moved to the west coast. Riddler's Revenge is amazing, but Iron Wolf holds a special place for me. Lay off that coaster!
