Iron Dragon mishap

At least they immediately shut the ride down, unlike Disney who sent Big Thunder Mountain on another run even though it was making strange noises.............
The last time I rode VTBC at PKD, I noticed as I was coming down the ramp that there was a hat jammed in the last wheel assembly of one of the trains. After I got my ride (on the train without the hat stuck in it) I notified the attendants who them shut down the ride until maintenance could come out and pull out the hat. I'd hate to see the train get stuck on the circuit because some idiot ignored the "no loose articles" policy, but I wanted to get my ride in first. ;)
..because THAT was responsible. In the meantime, the train could have stalled on the track before you had a chance to get on (albeit in a "safe" train) and then you would have waited longer than the brief downtime waiting for maintenance to get the hat. Not to mention the guilt that would have been on your conscience if the situation had become more than just a stalled train.

I don't care where/what the circumstance is - if I notice something, I'm not going to wait until I get my credit to tell somebody. I consider myself up there on the credit whore list, but that doesn't mean I should be careless, irresponsible, or downright unsafe.

Well I've had several times where I saw something or one wrong and went to a ride op who usally checks out and get the right person for the job. Main one was GASM at SFGAD, They had a couple of wheels with chunks missing out of the almost felt like a flat spot. they pulled the train off and changed the wheels. and thanked me.
Well let me see. My really good buddie Jeremey: his mother went to canadas wonderland and got stuck on skyrider stand-up atop the loop. She was stuck upside down for an hour. She said hanging there for that long with blood rushing to your head is not cool. After she got off though she lit a cigarette. LOL. Then the only other one is my cousin at Darien lake stuck upside down once again on the cobra roll right out of the station.

I have seen on Discovery, were they mark the Bolts that hold the support beems to the ground. If the bolt moves or loosens the 2 black marker marks do not line up. I kind of think they wait for something to happen to rides before maintaning new pieces or fixing it. Maybe sometimes, or in some cases they should just replace them with new parts to insure being up to date. All very true. Very interesting topic! *** Edited 10/19/2005 2:53:37 PM UTC by WheelOnSteel*** *** Edited 10/19/2005 2:54:39 PM UTC by WheelOnSteel***

WheelOnSteel, what you describe is known as "preventive maintenance", or 'PM' for short. I think Six Flags is the only one who doesn't do PM, at the very least during non-operational hours. They generally don't replace expensive parts (motors, wheels, etc.) until it needs it, but they'll replace various padding, cheap gears, etc.

As for marking the bolts? It's not just done on support beams. I remember a couple years ago at Dorney I asked the ride op at the Skyscraper what would happen if the bolts came loose on the car, and he flipped it over and showed me that every single nut and bolt has a mark on it to ensure it doesn't even loosen, and that all those marks are inspected every day by both maintenance *and* the ride staff. Since then, I've noticed similar marks on other rides around the park (mostly coasters).

Did I say "just the support beams" no i didn't. Not trying to be rude by all means. What if a bolt was to brake in the ground and they never checked it because they check all the bolts everyday refering to the markings on them. It's not a big deal I know because when has there ever been a beam support failure (NEVER). It's not even worth talking about though either. The accident report sheet is just so small. Really.

I see were you are coming from. PM never occures does it. I believe more should be done though then there is. Train wise anyway. Has there ever been a breakage in the track or beams? *** Edited 10/19/2005 4:38:34 PM UTC by WheelOnSteel***

So, if I am understanding what you are saying about the bolt failure in your last post WoS, you're talking about the bolt that is embedded in the concrete breaking.

Whenever I have looked at the marking on those bolts/nuts for the structure the line continues on to the concrete/structure. So, if the bolt was to fracture, the top portion would move and be out of alignment with the mark on the concrete/structure.

Very good. I did not know that. I stand corrected.
WoS, PM *does* happen. Most parks do it at night when the park isn't open - a few do (or at least used to) do it during the day. However, expensive replacements (motors, computer motherboards, wheels, etc.) are generally not part of PM.

Wheel On Steel, first of all let me tll you that you are a LIAR. Skyrider the stand up coaster at wonderland HAS NOT BEEN STUCK UPSIDE DOWN, NOT NOW, NOT EVER. It might have been stuck on the chain lift or the block brakes but other than that, your wrong. Sorry to tell you but i also think ur SFDL story is a bunch of lies too.

If SkyRider got stuck on the loop or SFDL's boomerang got stuck on the cobra roll, that would be on the news and www.rideaccidents.com. j_o_e_y__, I agree with you.

Listen up joey....and the vip. WOS has alot of good input. He is not lieing about skyrider. I live in windsor and I know if you rely on one source to get info from thats pretty sad. Skyrider has been stuck upside down. You need to look further k peanut brain. You have a big mouth joey. beware also. WOS informed us yesterday he was be bashed up and down the scale by coaster buzz members. There is a hole crap load of us about to register with coaster buzz next week about thirty of us. We are going to make you feel like garbage that you tiny little brained people do to others. WOS does not feel good about this. You people think your the biggest enthus on the planet eh! Your nothing. Watch and see. Boomarang has also been stuck to. i would put my life on it. ride accidents dot com does not have all info. try again. You people are pathetic. Making others feel like crap. Good job guys.
Was that the equivalent of a mafia threat on an internet message board?
This is going to be fun.

WOS Rescue is here muskateer

I live for the moment. YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE! ! ! !!!!!!!

HHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! ! ! !!!!!!!

My tummy hurts. Uh OH.

RollerRun, you are the dumbest person in the world. First of All, SkyRider has enough speed to go through the loop, and boomerang has enough speed to go through the cobra roll. And Boomerang did not get stuck on the cobra roll, it got stuck when there was a computer error and the lift cable stopped. Get a Life! And don't call me peanut brain, because I got insults for you. *** Edited 10/22/2005 4:19:24 AM UTC by The Viper @ Darien Lake***
don't care. do you really knoe how many people are coming to this site 4 real. insults are words by the way. Like I care.LMFAO
