But Playa... that's the point the original poster was trying to make....I'll take Top Gun over ID any day, but that doesn't mean the ride serves no purpose.
(COUGH)Fanboy(COUGH) :P
Uhhhhh....I wasn't talking about Top Gun. I said two suspended coasters, not three. Those two would be Ghoster Coaster and Runaway Reptar.
That's the same reason I brought up the Racer...it has a lower height limit than Blue Streak or Gemini but is fairly comparable.
And for those who didn't know already, most of your non-CF Schwarzkopf loopers have a 42" height requirement. For some reason, so does SFGAM's Demon.
Of course, anyone who's heard me rant before knows I believe CP is sorely, sorely lacking in the family coaster department (36" - adult). DT and DI help a little....but very, very little.
I'm flirting with the idea of hitting the Point next week-- but frankly, Snoopy on Ice is a bigger reason to go than either mid-size coaster CMidget could ride. If I wasn't getting in for free, I'd skip it for another park altogether.
Remind me I said this next summer when Da Midget (46.5" now) breaks the 4-foot plane...'cause I'll pretend I didn't.

I will be hitting CP in August with my 7 year old neice (her first visit) and Iron Dragon is the coaster that I am looking forward to riding with her. She has been on Mad Mouse and Zach's Zoomer at MIA so Iron Dragon should be a good transition.
I know many adults who are scared of the bigger coasters. This is a great crowd for Iron Dragon too :)
It all depends on the kid. Mine proved to be a thrill seeker even at 6.
I agree with you, Playa, that many kids under 46" might not find ID, Disaster Transport and Woodstock Express very exciting. But, I still think a ride like ID is a great transition coaster for a first timer, especially for one who is not tall enough fir the other coasters at CP.

Fan boy? Puh-lease... that has nothing to do with it. Like I said, I've watched Woodstock Express, Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport satisfy many children over and over again. Sure, PKI does have the better kids area, that was never any question in my mind. But to say that rides like ID are lame and have no purpose is just short-sighted.
(If you didn't notice, by the way, Reptar is Woodstock Express only the track is over your head and you have an OTSR.)

I didn't say it sucked--on the other hand, I sure as heck wouldn't call it perfect or sing its praises, either.
And yes, I know Reptar is a standard issue RollerSkater with inverted track. It's not my fault it beats the pants off ID.
But I tell you what--I'll slap CMidget on your hip during a visit to CP. Watch her face on Jr. Gemini (is that all?) and how quick WE gets old...then watch her endure a long, long day as a spectator while others ride bigger coasters. Then take her to PKI and watch how many coasters you can climb on together. For that matter, take her to MA or SFGAM. For crying out loud, even USF/IOA offers two custom RollerSkaters and the awesome Pterandon Flyers.
CP may be the best overall coaster park in the world, but is the worst 'tweener' park I've ever seen. For kids, ID is basically making the best of a bad situation. Take it from CBaby when she was that size. Sorry if I upset anybody--but watching my kids suffer just turns my stomach.
