IOA and Sea World...LONG

Hey everyone, just walked in from my trip to Islands of Adventure and Sea World. This was a very exciting trip, as my rankings for coasters have changed a bit. Let's start with Sea World:

Kraken: My new #1 looper!!! Kraken was worth the price of admission alone. To fully appreciate this ride, you have to either sit in the very front or very back. The front really makes the difference in these floorless coasters, and every part of this ride just kicks! The back is recommended for airtime galore down the first drop and the zero-g roll. I have to say another one of the cooler parts is that elevated turn before the tunnel, I love how it gives the great view of the bystanders. Definitely worth the price of admission alone. 12 laps.

Journey to Atlantis: Very good water coaster. Although I didn't get too wet, the first drop was very thrilling, although it was the coaster drop that made the ride for me. The Tales from the Crypt music that plays right before the coaster drop was a nice touch, and that twisting plunge finale made it a good ride, although no water rides compare to Dudley Do-Right. 3 laps.

On to IOA:

The Incredible Hulk: Still one of the best coasters around. The launch from the front seat is amazing, and I love the amazing airtime through the zero-g roll. 10 laps.

Dr. Doom's Fearfall: My favorite Space Shot, just for the "pop-top" airtime. I also did a little floating penny action when we hit the top. Very fun ride, especially with the single-rider line cutting down my wait to 5 minutes.

Dueling Dragons: I will do each seperately.

Fire: Now I used to prefer Ice over Fire, but that was until I rode Fire in the back seat...WOW!!! is all I can say. The camelback gave amazing airtime, and I've never experienced more positive g's then going through that Immleman/spiral then in the back seat. My new #1 inverted. 5 laps.

Ice: Now my second favorite inverted although it is an amazing ride. The front seat rocks on Ice, especially going up the cobra roll and hitting that straightaway before the loop. Much fun. 5 laps.

Also partook in many of the great attractions such as Dudley, Popeye, etc. Had a great two-days in Orlando. Next park: SFGAdv on 4/28!

Later everyone!

Good TR.. Wasn't that long!!
I usually put long everytime I write a report cause it seems long when you're writing it, I forgot to edit it out of the title after I saw the finished copy.

Cool.. I want to hit IOA so bad now..
Excellent TR - short and to the point. I couldn't agree more about Kraken. We almost decided not to go because of the outrageous ticket price, but we got a decent deal with a passport (also got into BGT with it). We would have really missed out. Kraken is an amazing coaster.
I second that; we need more TR's like this. It's so short I actually have time to read it! IMO Kraken is the best looper around, DD are the best inverteds around, Hulk is okay but not outstanding. So we agree on 3 of 4, not bad.

I thought JtA was a lame walk-through ride...apparently not. Do you know which one you walk through a few rooms of special effects goodies and see some "showdown" at the end? I could swear that was JtA...

StandUpFan: I beleive that is Poseidon's Fury at IOA. I skipped it because it was an hour wait, and even after waiting an hour, you're still on your feet to walk through the whole attraction.

I totally agree about Kraken. Much better than Hulk but barely beats Kumba(very similar). My #1 looper also.
You're right, I got the names confused. In that case, I have no idea what Journey to Atlantis is... I think I saw the sign to it while I was there; it's kinda close to Kraken and the nearest bathrooms are right by it.

Glad you had fun. Just went this weekend (04/27/01).
I'll be writing up a longer TR.
BGT on a Thursday had light crowds.
IOA was packed on a Friday. Many school field trips we're there, the park was full from the start at 9am, we did get on all the rides before it filled up. Do not go to IOA on a Friday or the weekend, schools are going here instead of Disney. A girl in line said the park was empty on Thursday.
SWF was full on a Saturday. Kraken and JTA had an hour wait in the afternoon. That tells you something, the thrill rides rule. Shamu Stadium at 01:30 in the afternoon was completely full, good crowd.
The best tip is to get there early and get your rides before the park fills up.
KRAKEN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

I dunno, I kinda dug Posidon's Fury when I went to IOA back in October '99. The water tunnel thing was pretty neat, IMO. I always wondered if they could make a tunnel like that for a roller coaster. Imagine roaring through a round tunnel where a sheet of water is being forcibly "spun" all around you. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

Fire Dragon ROCKS! I actually enjoyed riding the Dragons more than the Hulk.

Went to IOA while Kraken was being built, just the lift hill was up. Next time.

Has anyone seen the Wizard riding on one of the Dragons?
