When at Kings Island Ride The Beast.
So I guess by me asking the question, and the responce I am getting, I can assume it was never on this site....

So why does Hulk have aircraft warning lights on it? its only 110 ft

I'm going to IOA Friday and I have a VIP tour for Islands and I will ask to see if they hint towards anything

There have been new IOA coaster rumors ever since the place opened, with the most popular ones focusing on a B&M flyer (dueling flyers?) themed around the "cage" scene in Jurassic Park III. While I'd love to see another B&M at IOA, I have a feeling that something else is in the works.

I forgot about Old Town's Skycoaster, but that's Kissimmee and not Orlando... does that make a difference?

Don't forget about the 300 foot sky coaster in orlando. Thats way over 200 feet tall.

Except that it's not in Orlando, it's in Kissimmee.

You got a point. But I don't think it would make that much of a difference. Kissimmee is right next to orlando.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't MGM studios having a sky coaster over 200 feet tall I thought I read that somewhere. Or its just me.

I believe Orlando parks are limited to a 200ft building height.

That's why nothing at those parks is taller than 199 feet.

Disney has different rules beacuse of its unique governing set up...

But as for everything else, there is construction over 200' in Orlando. The wand atop Spaceship Earth is over 200' thus the beacon light.

I think that they build over 200', its just that they must get a variance to do so. So they can pretty much build what they want as long as its under, and must get approval if its over.

I'm not positive on that. I think I heard it thrown around before. Just something that stuck with me being as none of the Orlando parks have anything over that height.

The post above this one makes the most sense.

Look at the problems that wood coasters with 150-foot drops experience and you'll soon take back your comment about wood coasters with 300-foot drops! That's why Hades has some people worried...

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating. Colossos at Heide Park proves that it *is* possible to build a woodie bigger than 150ft without causing injury to the riders :)

Just did some searching and found that the tallest building in orlando is the SunTrust Center at 441 feet.

Here is an old story about Orlando's City Center building and the problems with getting height approval from the FAA. They kept making them go lower and lower and as of that article took them from the initial proposal of 649 feet to 405 feet and it still wasn't a done deal.

I thought the parks had the same approval issues/problems.

BTW, did that City Center building ever get built. I couldn't find any info on it?

From what I have read Disney does not want to ruin any of it's theming on buildings so they build them under 200 feet to stay under the rule that requires any structure over 200 feet to have the aircraft warning light. This comes from one of the Disney Imagineering books I have. The light on the Epcot wand fits the theme.

FAA approvals depend on the distance from the runway and the direction from the end of the runway. Comparing a building in downtown Orlando with a structure at Universal would be difficult without looking at lots of details.
At least these regulations are as tight as the U.K.'s are. Nemesis is 43 feet tall, but they built trenches to make the drop 104 feet. Can you imagine a 40 ft. tall ToT dropping underground? :)

Yeah, thats because its made with prefabricated track ;). Intamin is the only company I know of that uses it on their wood coasters, and while it is a good idea, I think it ruins the wooden feel. Colossos is essentially a steel coaster made with wood ;).

I really think the GCI could pull off a gimondous coaster without killing anybody (like any SoBs we know). ;)
Off topic-I have been hearing New coaster rumors in IOA for a long time ever since triceratops encounter closed more and more rumors state that if a coaster is built thats where it will end up in Jurassic park I have even been told that late next year the River Adventure will be closed for a couple of months so they can re-skin the dinos and add the Triceratops to the the ride.

But yeah most MAJOR theme parks like disney dont build over 200FT which is ok by me.

When at Kings Island Ride The Beast.
The tower at Sea World is like 400 or 410 in height, and with the antenna is like 450 or something of the sort.

I think a theme raptor woodie would be a nice site for the triceratops encounter, not sure how much room they have, but if it went over camp jurassic that would be a cool effect and viewpoint over that section of the park.

^ Ahhh! Very good example with Sea World.

I'd like to see a dueling coaster where a flying duels with an inverted. The theming could be some sort of bird(flying) vs. a snake(inverted). Just a stupid idea you come up with when you're bored.
